On the 2018 Irish abortion referendum
I mean, with modern science and ultrasound, we know beyond doubt that that's a tiny human, we know what the abortion procedure does; it's beyond comprehension to vote for that. And the majority of voters were baptized Catholics too, which I take personally.

@Timjer and Indicible:
That depends on the stage we are talking about. A zygote? Technically, it is, but it is certainly still far from anything resembling one. But a 25th week fetus that may survive a premature birth (yes, its chances would not be good at all, but it is evidently possible)? Yes, I would say that could be called a tiny human.
While they are certainly not as bad as the "Pro-Lifers", I see this at-best-hyperbole from "pro-Choicers" all the time. And at that, I hate both of those vague and overimportant euphemisms. The issue is not "life" or "choice". Stop pretending that it is about amything other than abortion!
To clarify my position:
I am in favour of abortion for medical reasons (although being able to make informed decisions is important) and I am okay with it in the early stages of pregnancy.
I am opposed to non-medical abortions in the post.embryonic stages and especially after the 23rd week, although not a criminal offence - and especially not murder -, especially not on the part of the mother, but merely misconduct on the part of the doctor.
the majority of voters were baptized Catholics too, which I take personally.
The world is not about you, snowflake. Grow fucking up.
(I realise that I'm not in the best position to say this as I said a while ago that I found one of Mick's cartoons 'almost personally offensive.' The difference, I'd argue, is that I am one of a group of people (i.e. his readers) whom Mick is showing contempt for with the shitness of everything he has ever drawn. The result of the abortion referendum had absolutely nothing to do with the feelings of this whiny little berk. So again, grow the fuck up and if you don't like abortion start agitating for decent sex education and free condoms.)

Don't get me wrong, I know that by that point the child is human enough. But we both know that to fundies, a sperm and egg instantly become a microscopic human. And that's what I'm disputing.
Now, when it comes to abortion itself, I have largely the same stance as you. When the child can survive fully on its own, it shouldn't be allowed all nilly-willy unless either the child's or mother's life is in grave danger without intervention. But even then I wouldn't call it outright murder on the part of the mother.
But as you know, to fundies it's a woman's duty to be a baby factory. And if they die bringing just a single baby in the world, it's all worth it! Sickening...
@Timjer
And if they die bringing just a single baby in the world, it's all worth it!
And sometimes, it's not even that - many of them also want abortion to be illegal even when the child has no chance to live ! At that point, it must be either Lawful Stupid or a desire to see "sinful" women punished (because if your pregnancy goes awry, that's obviously must be punishment for being a slut or uppity or something)
Yeah, well 66% of Ireland's electorate disagrees with your 'Opinion', don't bother them about it.
Hosea 13:16. They - and we pro-Choicers - take Hypocrisy personally .
It is the will of the people. Why do you hate Freedom , you Nazi?!
Why does it matter if they're baptised?
That's done without their consent, before they can understand what's going on. Kind of like circumcision, or wearing Teletubbies onesies, or what street they lived on when they were three.
That's all shit other people decided. The vote is what THEY decided.
That "tiny human" is almost indistinguishable from a chicken embryo or a pig embryo at the time when most (human) abortions are done.
Yes, we know what the abortion procedure does; you take a pill or two, and either go home and have an induced "miscarriage", or stay at the hospital and have it there.

In Sweden, abortions are allowed up to week 18. Between week 18 and week 21, abortions can be done for medical reasons, if you get a permission from the Social Board. After week 21, abortions are not allowed, and if/when the fetus leaves the woman's body, it's considered a birth.
Have you EVER seen an ultrasound of a very early fetus? Up to a point abortions need to be accessible for health reasons and the only people qualified to determine if a valid health reason exists are the woman and her doctor.
After some point in time the state has an interest in the fetus and abortion access can be restricted. The key here is for every woman to have access to prenatal care so health issues don't extend too far into the pregnancy.
Confused?
