why is that "Creator" assumed to be the Christian God without challenge or evidence? Why can't God be Thor or Zeus? Why the Christian God??
Because they are so arrogant that they cannot so much as consider the possibilty that they might wrong about damn near anything.
Because Thor, Zues don't exist.
What a coincidence, neither does your "god".
Didn't learn this as a child?
You are totally missing the point. The point was to demonstrate the sheer arrogance of the creationists who just assume that they are the only religion with a creation myth, and therefore must be true.
Or do you attend a secret meeting of people who whorship Thor? Or Zeus?
I don't, but don't kid yourself, there are people out there who still worship the Greek and Norse pantheons.
But you will whorship the God of Evolution...
Except for the fact that there is no "god of evolution", nor does evolutionary theory have anything to say about the nature or existance of any god or gods, the beginnings of life, or the origins of the universe.
Or would it be the God of science?
There isn't a "god of science" either. Your problem is that you can't process the idea that there are people out there who don't feel the need to worship anything and you just take a shared intrest of some of those people and claim they worship it. Just asserting that someone worships something doesn't make it true, no matter how hard you pray or how much you want it to be true.
You will be disappointed by them.
How is someone going to be disappointed by something that they expect nothing from? No one prays for science or evolution to intercede and change reality on their behalf. but you do, and you will likely be dissappointed by unanswered prayers far more often than i will.
Oh and.. Evolution offers no proof.
Oh, please! The is literally tons upon tons of evidence pointing to evolus\tion by natural selection. Evolution can and has been observed. Just because you refuse to acknowledge the evidence for evolution does not mean that there isn't any.
Just some clowns in white coats who claim to have special knowledge and can interpret old bones and dna evidence.
No it isn't. There are no scientists claiming "special knowledge", thats what's so great about science. Scientists don't assert that X is true because they say so or because an old book of myths can be interpreted to say that X is true. Scientists present a theory and show the evidence and tests that led them to that conclusion, and best of all, they publish it where anyone can read it and test the claims themselves as to confirm or refute the idea. No claims of special knowledge needed, the knowledge that confirms evolutionary theory is availible for anyone, scientist or not, examine and test.
If you want claims of "special knowledge" then you need to look at religion, not science, scientist don't make claims of divine inspiration or guidence, nor claims of knowledge imparted on them by some deity, religion however, does just that. You want "interpretation" then you need to look at religion, not science. Scientist don't "interpret" fossils, they examine them. Nor is the theory of evolution based on, or supported by just DNA evidence and the fossil recored alone, but also by a host of other observations including direct observation in E. coli and nylonase, a bcterium the feeds specifically on nylon, a material that didn't even exist until the mid 20th century.
