Feminism=the great evil of the modern era!
The U.S. birth rate has plummeted from 3.9 children per woman in 1960 to 2 per woman; marriage has declined by one third; the divorce rate has doubled since 1960; and more than half of all first-born children in the United States are conceived or born out of wedlock. Studies have shown that female fertility starts to decline after age 26 and drops rapidly after age 30. The point is that many women are valuing career and work over marriage early in their lives, and it should be troublesome to all women when the facts show that fertility declines rapidly around the age when many of them start to think about marriage and children.

Seeing as how we've figured out how to have most of our children live to adulthood, a decline in fertility is a good thing.

Could it be, your namesake has royally fucked up the economy so bad the middle class people can't afford 4 children, whereas Ike was running a booming economy(without the welfare for the wealthy tax breaks to the rich I might add) and giving the middle class a comfortable living?
If you can't feed yourself, how are you going to feed a child?
People in America have NEVER had 3 children on average since records are available. From that onwards, you forget that women are not baby maschines, and that fertility in men declines after fourty too.
As if the world should be overpopulated.....without feminism, we'd all not be free! Us girls and women'd still be second-class citizens.... ...which is the way I've figured out fundie men must want it to be. Slaves....
I guess people in the South are still mad 140 or so years after slavery was made illegal...so they move out into the wild, become Full-Quivers, and force their wives to become baby-making machines and entirely submissive like female black slaves were .... beating 'em all thew way, too.

Do you have any statistics on marriage satisfaction, then and now? I bet those have sky-rocketed; the ones who stay together now actually love to be together. Not like before when you had to have a bread-winner, and couldn't just divorce him because he was treating you poorly.
Marriage isn't the boundary that it was, certainly not in Europe. Couples are living together for years and years, having children together, but see no reason for a formal seal on the relationship. That might be one reason why more kids are born out of wedlock; it's not a "lock" any more.
If women value career and work, isn't that what they should be doing? Why force them into something they don't want? If, FSM forbid, their fertility has declined too much by the time they are ready for kids, there are millions of orphaned kids in the world who need parents.
