IOW, God's Truth about ERVs is that it doesn't matter what we used to be, for Now, we have inherited Adam's and God's superior intelligence. Now our destiny is clear. We will have dominion or rule over every other living creature, for we are a Special Creation, and not just another animal.

Either Aman777 doesn't realize that inheritancee entails the forward passage of time from one generation to others or his two arguments contradict each other.

Archaeological evidence doesn't just suggest otherwise, it comes right out and factually declares that apes came first, and we have a common ancestor.

Nobody's claiming that having DNA similar to chimps makes us chimps. What they're claiming is that chimps and humans have DNA that was put there by the same ERV in the same place. The key is "same place", because that proves that humans and chimps were not separately infected. If they were, the ERV's DNA would have attached to one of millions of other places in each animal's DNA. The only way it could be in the same place is if the retrovirus infected a common ancestor's germ cells (eggs or sperm) and put its DNA in that place and the DNA was then inherited by both humans and chimps from their common ancestor.
Not likely with the snails, at least no more so than we're related to spiders, or shrimp.
We're more related to starfish (both Humans and starfish are Deuterostomia) then we are to snails (which are in Protostomia).
As for the rest of the post, no, even in your own stupid story book, apes where made before man. In reality both Great Apes and Humans evolved from a (deep time) recent common ancestor about 15-20 million years ago (6 million for chimps bonobos and humans)

My look at Wikipedia came up with "endogenous retroviruses", of which I, of course, understand absolutely nothing.
Where's our house troll? I suspect he's an acclaimed expert on endogenous retroviruses. At least in his twisted dreams.

Ordinary viruses multiply by invading our cells and hijacking our cells' copying mechanism to make copies of themselves. Retroviruses go one step simpler: they invade the nucleus of our cells and insert themselves into our own DNA. They don't just hand the builder a new blueprint and say "Here. Make me some viruses": they actually alter the existing blueprint so the builder makes viruses while thinking he's making part of you. It becomes an "endogenous" (fancy word for "inside the genome") retrovirus when it succeeds in invading the DNA of a germ cell (eggs or sperm) and getting passed to your offspring. Because ERVs are rarely beneficial, they eventually fall into disrepair, cease to function and leave their dead carcasses all over our DNA. I've seen estimates that claim 40% of our genome is the rotting hulks of old ERVs. HIV is a retrovirus.

To reiterate what you say - and further annihilate their argument (especially that old chestnut they love to wheel out) - if man came from dirt, why is there still dirt?
And if a supposedly omni potent 'God' could just 'poof' a universe, world & all the animal life on it with nary a thought, why couldn't he do exactly the same with the first humans ? If a 'God' limits his 'omnipotence' in this way, he isn't God.

Dear Readers, What this shows is that the Theory of Evolution is an incomplete, untrue, false assumption. Humans were made on the first Earth, which was totally destroyed in the Flood. Adam was the first living being made for he was formed of the dust of the ground on the 3rd Day, in another world, which was totally destroyed in the Flood.
The False ToE is limited to this incomplete view of men who study only our world. They know nothing of Adam's world, and that throws their calculations off in every direction. When you tell them, they call you names and imply that you are Nuts.
The entire story of this argument is told in ll Peter 3:3-7 The Scoffers (Evols) will be "willingly ignorant" that the first Earth was totally destroyed in the Flood, and that our world will be burned.
The argument will be in the latter days, before the destruction of our world.

Dear Readers, Read Genesis 2:4-7 and you will find that man was "formed of the dust of the ground" on the 3rd Day, the SAME Day the Earth was made BUT before the Plants grew on the 3rd Day according to Gen 1:9-10.
This means that Adam, the first human was made BEFORE the first Stars of our universe, which were made the FOURTH Day. Gen 1:16

Dear Friend, Jesus made Adam of the dust of the ground and made him with an intelligence like God's, on the 3rd Day, Before the first Stars of our world put forth their light. Gen 2:4-7
Adam was made on the first world, which was totally destroyed in the Flood. Adam was there when Jesus caused the Big Bang of the 3rd Day (Gen 2:4) and the formation and lighting of the FIRST Stars of our Cosmos, on the 4th Day. (Gen 1:16) It's important since Scientists have recently discovered what God told us in Genesis. It was hundreds of Millions of years AFTER to Big Bang BEFORE the first Stars put forth light.
