Well, you just broke one of my most important rules. Anytime somebody prefaces an assertion with "everyone knows," it means that what follows is untrue, the author knows it is untrue and is using "everyone knows" in an attempt to cover up the fact that s/he can cite no sources for that assertion. Your assoholic assertion is a perfect example of this rule.

Not true. I'm a liberal and I read. Keep in mind, of course, that not all books are the same. If you read nothing but Coulter's hogwash and the Wholly Babble, you won't learn much. (Of course, you're Christian, I'm sure; most Christians haven't read the BuyBull.)

There actually may be a grain of truth here. It seems plausible that liberals are more likely to embrace new -age pseudoscientific junk, since conservatives are more likely to embrace old -age pseudoscientific junk. There are idiots who old every possible political belief, and the conservative idiots generally favor creationism, diet creationism (aka "intelligent design"), prayer-healing, and other such nonsense. Sure, some may also go for the new-age stuff, but there are probably more idiot liberals in those areas than idiot conservatives due to the conservative trend towards the backwards religious garbage.
So all scientists are conservative, then? Go read Pharyngula, and prepare to eat those words. Or because a recent study found that at least in science-related articles, Wikipedia is generally more accurate than the Encyclopedia Brittanica.
