What have you done to reduce violent crime?
What have you done to cure cancer?
What have you done to cure AIDS?
What have you done to give homes to orphans?
What have you done to reduce the number of wars?

Why should anyone care what you oppose if you don't do something to help these people?

While strictly speaking working for good causes has no impact on the veracity of one's claims, I have OFTEN thought atheist turn people off by NOT being publically involved in such causes. Churches get a lot of really good PR from charity work...atheists might do well to consider the same.

Why? So we can get into a shouting match over who's the better person? I can't think of a much better way to turn people off than that...

And the fucking irony? Jesus said very fucking clearly that his followers were to AVOID DOING THAT KIND OF THING IN PUBLIC! Mainly because they were just showing off and they'd get fried for eternity for doing so.

Figures that Atheists would be better Christians than Christians...

Does he actually think that by voting for Prop 8, he has done any of those things? (Though I can see how he might think that voting for it reduces AIDS, since we all know only faggots spread AIDS and encouraging monogamy, in their twisted minds, only increases promiscuity... :<)

Yes, that was sarcasm above, in case anyone was worried, and I would have voted against it if it was in my state (Washington.) I think allowing people like Melissa Ethridge and George Takei the ability to marry will only make them happier, and can't think of a single reason why it would hurt the average person, let alone increase all of the things the excellent first poster mentioned.

Homosexual marriage does nothing to promote poverty...if anything, allowing a partner to be legal next of kin allows, in case of untimely passing, to PREVENTS poverty.

See above for homelessness.

Homosexuality has no higher instance of violent crime, aside from being assaulted by bigots.

Homosexuality has no higher instance of cancer, married or no.

In spite of the bullshit you guys like to pipe off about, AIDS is not a gay disease, and even if it was, wouldn't letting us marry and commit to each other not lessen infection rates?

Homosexual marriage would provide stable family units for orphans that would otherwise have no home. Good job keeping the orphans homeless to keep them from coming into contact with the gay.

Homosexuality hasn't, to the best of my knowledge, caused a single war.

So as far as I can see, you did nothing to actually further mankind, and did nothing but serve your own selfish whims.
