It is my contention, that Anders Breivik will likely be rehabilitated by mainstream Europe, in the esculating conflict with Islam, in a decade or two. I see violence esculating and as self defense armed militias of identity groups become common in the low to expanding cultural-civil war on the streets, Anders Breivik’s actions will come to be admired, and he will come to be seen as a early warrior in defense of European Christendom.

Very few people over here bother themselves about religion, one way or the other; it just feels outdated and old-fashioned. Breivik is very late to the "party" if he wanted to defend "European Christendom". As he attacked mostly Norwegian teenagers at summer-camp, who might well have been a bit Christian, he went about it in a very mysterious way. Breivik will hopefully never get out of jail, as he showed he's a threat to democracy and human rights. We kinda like those two things here in Europe, ya know.
Have you mixed up the words escalating and emasculating, or what?
If the US stops supporting one Muslim nation in one war and the opponent in the next war, and instead works on helping them all improve their human rights, you will have fewer Muslim nations that hate you, and the Muslim threat will disappear just as the Red Scare disappeared. The best way to remove a enemy is to make him your friend.
Nope. Humanity marches forward, not backwards, although some individuals do so more slowly than others. Your mindset is like a living fossil, especially outside of the Southern United States and third-world countries. The "scary" foreigners who migrate to Europe (and the US) do so to escape the oppressive religious fundamentalism and poor living conditions of their home countries, so they're not interested in bringing it with them. They may bring along a few other small things from their home cultures, but those things are not threatening, so only a paranoid and ignorant xenophobe would be upset by them. Those people are the ones who start "cultural-civil war on the streets," not the immigrants, as very well demonstrated by Breivik. And blaming the immigrants for that is the same logic as an abusive spouse saying "You made me hit you."
I wouldn't be surprised if future generations look down on Breivik even more than the current one. Since a few pathetic people sympathize with him, that number could dwindle closer to zero if nothing else.
ugh, the worst part is, i think he's right. i mean, aren't we on schedule for another wave of antisemitism and xenophobia to grip europe? another in an endless succession. the jews are off limits because the last round was so over the top, so they'll go after the muslims.
some of the crazy stuff i've heard coming out of europe sounds like the protocols of the elders of zion, revised just a touch. and europe is going to shit atm.
Southern by the Grace of God
Yeah, God's chosen are redneck hillbillies. He made them all so, uhh, god-like.

Norway is one of the most civilized countries in Europe - actually, in the world. Your idiotic comments are an insult to the people of this fine place. They are socially and politically far more advanced than Southern.
Breivik has received a jail sentence of 20 years, I believe. But the Norwegian system is subtle. If it is found that he is likely to become a recidivist, his sentence can be prolonged indefinitely.
Religion in Europe is hardly an issue. People tend to get educated and see it for what it is - an attempt at mind control.
Please stay in your swamp, Southern. We have no need of you or any of your kind.

"In future generations, when Anders Breivik is mentioned, the best response woe be...
"Anders Who?""
Woe?
No, we must never forget the atrocities that are committed in the name of "progress". If we do, they just go on happening again and again.
When I first heard about Breivik's actions, I figured the fundies would be scrambling to throw up messages of "well he wasn't a true Christian" in response to those who warn of the dangers of such extreme Christian fundamentalism. To see so many of them actually hailing the "man" (and I hesitate to use that word to describe that vile bastard) as a hero is downright terrifying.
These people are scum.
Highly unlikely, not least because there isn't an "esculating" conflict with Islam in Europe. There aren't any "self defense armed militias of identity groups", just groups of idiots milling about and shouting football chant slogans, waving flags. See the difference?
However, not even those type of people admire Anders Breivik, 'cause what he did was so clearly mad and ineffectual.
And the worst part about it is that Anders B. Breivik only hurt his cause. He killed mostly Norwegian youth, who now are dead thus can't have more Norwegian kids of their own. That would be like if Hitler (Godwin!) decided to kill 6 million white people instead...oh wait, the fundies say he was gay yet he killed gays, I get it now.
As a European, I always want to slap Americans who talk about Islam in Europe no matter if it is conservatives who have some grand idea of a Clash of Civilizations taking place in the streets of Europe or liberals who all seem to think it's honey spewing from springs or "sceptics" (I doubt they can even be sceptics and hold this opinion) who believe Europe is just months short of being put under Sharia Law.
The truth is that the devout definition of "Christian" that the American conservatives use only fits a very very small number or Europeans, possibly even less than there are Muslims, while the parts of the population that is what they call "militant atheists" might very well be up to 10% with around a third of Europe being atheist and another third being agnostic - often while remaining in the organized church.
What is happening is that we have noticed that Islam isn't just a guest, but here to stay, and so we have to adjust our societies and laws to that new reality. Some of the proposals are ridiculous, but there are these basic things like "Is it ok to hide behind a burqa in public, wouldn't a hijaab suffice?", "Should the Muslim kid going through Ramadan be excempt from physical education for that time, or should she/he be told to somehow compromise as to not compromise the class?", "Should employers have to give their Muslim employees time to pray during working hours?", "Do restaurants have to offer kosher/halal foods or mark what is/isn't?" and "Is circumsicion child abuse when done for purely religious reasons?".
These are everday life questions, with the exceptions of the tone in the debate (way less aggressive) very much the same as the questions arising in the United States on how to treat evangelical Christians - ok maybe that's a bad example because most Muslims in Europe aren't gigantic cunts.
"he will come to be seen as a early warrior in defense of European Christendom."
Yes because that's what always happens with people who are mass murderers, of children no less.
Just like the USA's "war on Christmas," the "Islamification" of Europe is imagined. So, no, his actions will not be admired--at least not by reasonable people. People will continue to shake thier head in either disgust or disbelief or both, even ten years from now.
As a Norwegian, I'll say: No!
Besides, Norwegians are hardly Christian as it is. Less than 5% of the population goes regularly to church.
Regardless of what may or may not happen, Anders Breivik is someone who indiscriminately murdered children. How anyone can use any sort of politics to justify those actions is beyond me. It just goes to show that fundamental christianity, or right wing extremism, isn't very different from fundamental islam.
Confused?
