If anyone’s being silenced it’s the majority of Californians who’ve time after time after time, voted against gay marriage. The nuts and fruits living in the land of fruit and nuts can’t handle they don’t get to play marriage. Even if the definition changes it will never “be” marriage. They will always be a pale shadow of an imitation of a real marriage. Because the pervert lifestyle, whatever it is, doesn’t lend itself to fidelity and monogamy, and this is what marriage is about. It’s why so few homosexuals “get married”, air quotes intentional. It’s why the only thing that they want it for are legal and tax benefits. Which they can get most of anyway through current contract law, powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, leaving property to others in wills, etc.
Marriage is between a man and a woman. Hopefully they’re smart and made a wise choice so it is able to last a lifetime.

You know, as long as Brittany Spears can run off and get married in vegas and then divorced a few hours later, and as long as heterosexual couples can get married and divorced as many times as they want without anyone ever telling them they've gone too far, and can't get married again, I will never agree with the sanctity of marriage, or that a homosexual marriage can never be a "real" marriage. Genetalia doesn't make a marriage real. The staying power of the marriage makes it real.
So few homosexuals "get married", because you're not letting them, dumbass. If it's really so impossible from getting a REAL marriage, why stop them from getting a state marriage?
Besidesm fuckwit, people aren't supposed to be allowed to vote on matters of civil rights. It violates the Constitution's prevention of the Tyranny of Majority.
So...I guess you hate America.
But... but... I was under the impression that marriage was between a man and a piece of property (that he bought from his wife's father, or that his wife's father had to pay him to take her)
Or, I was under the impression that it was between a man and multiple pieces of property. I mean, we know that monogamy is strictly endorsed in Teh Bibble, right?
In short, marriage is between two consenting adults. Your *EEEWWW TEH GHEY* complex cannot be forced on other individuals, so shove off.
If it's marriage in name only, if it isn't real, if they don't marry anyway, if gay marriage will never BE marriage in your eyes...
Then why the fuck do you care? Seriously, if it's all meaningless in your eyes anyway, just let them have their "fantasy". But you don't. You rant and rave, you spit and bile, you want to stop them at every possible turn, you want to deny them a right that they, as human beings, deserve just as much, if not more, then all those shotgun wedding, cousin-marrying, cheating, divorce-after-one-day heterosexuals that, according to you, are what marriage really is about.
(Wow, what a rant.)
"If anyone’s being silenced it’s the majority of Californians who’ve time after time after time, voted against gay marriage."
I know, I know, but you know something? I had a dream last night. Gay marriage was allowed in California and all these conservatives were putting up an effort to stop it. I forget what the movement was called, something with "8" in it. Anyway, it definitely was a fantasy. Gay marriage opponents are mocked and ridiculed like you said so no one would ever take them seriously. Such efforts could never pull off the task of eliminating gay marriage from the most populous state in our country. Could they?
Fifty-one percent of the majority vote isn't something to be overly proud to flaunt. In fact, let's take it one step further. Let's take away your license and see how well you can do without legal rights. First off, if something was to happen to your spouse and they're in the hospital, you can't make any decisions for him because you're not the spouse. You are not eligible for any tax breaks you can receive because you're not married. If your spouse dies, then there are several privileges would not be available to you. Without a will, any property your spouse had would go to their immediate family, not you. Even with a will, the family can contest it. All this is for a piece of paper that the government says that two people are married. Even if all that legal stuff such as weill, powers of attorneys do go through, the family members can still contest it. The issue of homosexual marriage is not to change the definition of marriage, but to have the same legal rights you do as a heterosexual.
Heterosexual divorce rate in America: 51%
Why can't we let homosexuals have a go at it? Perhaps it will help lower the divorce rate if people who DON;T take marriage for granted are allowed to have a go at it?
fidelity and monogamy, and this is what marriage is about
For examples, see:
- Elliot Spitzer
- Larry Craig
- Ted Haggard
- Mark Foley
- Bill Clinton
"Marriage is between a man and a woman."
Enough already! If that's true, why do I need a license from the State? Who's that turkey buzzard mumbling mumbo-jumbo and making a big ritual out of it and horning in on my privacy? Why do I need two lawyers, a judge, and a three-ring circus to get divorced? Marriage and divorce are big business. Anti Gay marriage ravings are big business. You might want to stop letting people wind you up then take your time or money. Your sensibilities will go with you in the hearse. It won't be soon enough. /rant
[If anyone’s being silenced it’s the majority of Californians who’ve time after time after time, voted against gay marriage.]
What about the people who voted against your right to free speech, free worship, firearms, etc.?
Oh...that's right. We didn't vote on your rights. They're protected by the Constitution.
What a relief! Just imagine if somebody's right to free speech could be taken away by a simple majority vote. That would be childish. Almost as childish as holding a vote to define what the word "speech" means in the first place.
Isn't that right, Secret Agent Man?
You're not helping matters, man. If more than half of heterosexual marriages end in divorce, who's really making marriage look like a joke? Gays aren't the ones who made being a divorce lawyer a lucrative career.
Traditional marriage is a sham that never existed except in the minds of morons like you. It has never been a strictly religious institution, it wasn't invented by your god, or anyone's god for that matter. Heterosexuals have done more to denigrate the institution of marriage than gays ever could.
As for silencing the religious morons in California, if only we could be so lucky. I've said it before, I will likely have to say again but human rights aren't decided by popular votes. This is a fight you will lose. Get used to the idea.
"Sorry" to break it to you, SAM, but your side only managed to squeeze out a slim majority on the Prop 8 vote by flinging demonstrably false claims (which would have been illegal if used to pitch a product), spreading slander, using laundered Mormon money to advertise...and even then you wouldn't have been able to pass it without Diebolding the election (~5% in L.A. county, hasn't been screened for elsewhere yet...).
If anyone’s being silenced it’s the majority of whites who’ve time after time after time, voted against interracial marriage. The darkies and their lovers can’t handle they don’t get to play marriage. Even if the definition changes it will never “be” marriage. They will always be a pale shadow of an imitation of a real marriage[..]
Secret Agent Man, 1950
It’s why so few homosexuals “get married”,
I thought it was because they weren't allowed to in most places. Huh.
In the olden days marriage was (and in some places still is) a business transaction, arranged marriage was a common event. Another reason was that a man would be able to know if the kid was his so that the land or wealth went to his offspring, not somebody else.
How many marriages last a lifetime, again? Oh, right, less than half?
The whole concept of marriage is a joke, really. The only reason why marriage is good is for the social rights that come with it, and that's really all we homosexuals want.
Majority of People these days are getting married at older and older ages. They want to live, party through there 20s and settle down in there 30s. This includes all sexs.
Don't pretend you didn't have a preverted lifestyle at 20. Unless your a lifeless SOB.
Frankly, current heterosexual marriages don't lend themselves to fidelity and monogamy either, but I suppose that's ok, since it's usually the man doing it.
The reason that so few homosexuals "get married" is because idiots like you keep trying to ban it everywhere. If we had legal gay marriage throughout the country, you'd be seeing it a lot more, I bet.
"It’s why the only thing that they want it for are legal and tax benefits."
And you think that's not the reason a lot of heterosexual couples get married instead of just living together?
I'd try to argue this, but what's the point? These cunts want the opportunity to ruin the lives of complete strangers, and because they want to do something that in no way affects them. So I'm content to say FOADIAF you twat.
And why didn't the defenders of marriage append an anti-divorce clause to prop8? Is it because marriage isn't as sacred as they make out? Or because the majority of supporters are nothing more than bigots?
Confused?
