It shows how weak a man you are that you would beat up on a woman, one who is weaker than you and if that woman is seeking your protection, you "maintain proper rulership/headship of the Man in this home." if you ask me you chauvinistic pig, you can't show your manliness to your peers therefore you try to make yourself seem like a 'leader' or more of a 'man', by beating on your wife, really in today's society what you have shown is that you are weak instead of strong, all because you pray on the weak.
God has also stated to love thy neighbour, neighbour obviously meaning everyone around you, that's not always possible, but as long as you show kindness, courtesy and respect for everyone around you, that is all that is needed and you cannot do that by harming your 'wife'. Your wife is a part of 'you', if women were created from a man's rib, then technically you are beating on 'yourself'.
No need to take out your personal issues about yourself on your wife.
Save face, beat up on a punching bag, they are almost like a woman to beat, they can't fight back and an additional a plus is that you can beat it up for hours without killing it or it needing to go to hospital and also a bigger plus; it has no feelings.
