Recently my mother had a chemical reaction to bad food and has been sick ever since (she's been getting better due to prayer though--she's almost 100% again). She feels God allowed her to get sick because I bought the Da Vinchi code. She saw a Christian guy on TV saying it has a "anti-Christ" spirit.

I see. Simple cause-and-effect relationship, like "step on a crack, break your mother's back." If I were you, I would avoid pavement altogether; you wouldn't want your mom suffering from all those tiny fractures that would result even from stepping on small cracks, would you?
~David D.G.
And he doesn't see anything wrong with a god that would inflict suffering on an innocent person because of what you did?
Oh, right, he's Christian. Maybe he should worship his mother who got stomach flu for his sins.
Better due to prayer, or her immune system?
So if a book can have evil spirits, does that translate to all the trees used to make books? Or just to the writer? Or just certian words you may not agree with??
Also, God "allowed" her to get sick?? Does this mean she *asked* for it?
Fuck's sake.
"My ma says she saw a Christian guy on TV say something, so it must be true!"
Well, okay, if you insist.
Incidentally, I like this. I'm trying to imagine a dialogue with God here.
Mother: "God, why are you punishing me!?"
God: "BECAUSE YOUR SON BOUGHT A BOOK!"
Mother: "But I didn't buy the book! I didn't even know he had it!"
God: "YOUR FOOLISH LOGIC IS MEANINGLESS. YOU WILL BE PUNISHED NOW!"
Yeah... right.
The Da Vinci Code made me sick, too. It certainly has an anti-Literature spirit.
That book is clearly a mechanism for demonic possession -- I started frothing at the mouth and roaring incoherently as soon as I got to the part about the main character being a "symbologist."
So Mom gets food poisoning. Instead of going to a hospital or seeking some sort of medical attention, she prays. At some point in time she sees some idiot bashing The Da Vinci Code . Attributes food poisoning to book her son bought. And 1+1=3.
To be fair, when I got food poisoning, I stopped acting rationally too. But I was wondering "who slipped bad shrooms into my chili?", not "Why is God mad at me?"
I read The "Da Vinci Code", "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" and saw several related documentaries.
I didn't even catch a cold. And I'm an atheist.
Is God simply pissing on your mother for fun?
Da Vinchi Code? I don't know about the book, I haven't read it. But I didn't think much of the film. Apart from Ian McKellan. He was good. It didn't make me sick, or is it just the book and not the film that does that?
Confused?
