News flash: The world doesn't exist for the sole use of human beings. Otherwise nothing would eat us and every organic thing would be edible or otherwise safe for us to use.
The ecosystem is very fragile. Sure, it can afford to lose a few species here or there provided there's at least one more to fill the niche. Sea turtles are a major predator for jellyfish, so no sea turtles = way more jellyfish. I think we can all agree that that would be a very, very bad thing.
Yeah! So let's go kill everything that isn't human or doesn't directly benefit us! Let's chop down all of the rainforests! Let's keep pumping crap up into the air! Let's leave this planet as one giant desert! I'm doing my part: I leave my three Humvees on all day and night and every morning I have California condor eggs and polar bear blood for breakfast. I mean God made all the animals right? And got Adam to name them just as it says in Genesis? So sea-turtles must have been created by God for some purpose, unless he was totally nutso or it was just like "random chance" or something (haha).
So just because God hasn't revealed the purpose of sea-turtles to us yet doesn't mean we should do away with them. If anything we should keep them around so there are plenty about when God does show us what they're for.

I disagree. I take great joy in the existence of other species, and particularly observing them going about (most) of their lives. You, on the other hand, just made yourself a threat to something I value.

Ecological consciousness should not be a political/religious issue dammit. The only room for a political issue would be on methods, not that damage to the ecosystem needs to be fixed in the first place.
Rapture theology should not be taken seriously, and environmental activism should be able to steamroll right over it. Yet, we get people who see no need to take care of Earth because they're getting raptured. Got news for you, you still clean your house when you're moving next week.
But unlike turtles, if Rush Limburger were to suddenly cease to exist by, maybe, his heart exploding due to all the prescription drugs he's addicted to, and/or the hypocrisy due to him railing against drug use in the past, I wouldn't lose any sleep over his demise (or mayhaps I would!
