GAYS are trying to get married and THIS [global warming] is what you're worried about????
Fiction like this is designed to scare us and make us forget the current issues that affect us directly. Don't buy into Gore's scaremongering. Be on God's side and fight the Godless sinners!

Right, so you're saying gay marriage affects you directly, but global warming does not.
Methinks we have a troll in our midst.
Wow. Just ... wow.
First, gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone in any measurable way. It doesn't cheapen marriage unless you already consider marriage a club so exclusive that you can't let other people in. It doesn't cause straight marriages to break up, as there are still plenty of married people in Massachusetts and Canada on this side of the Atlantic. Unfortunately, I've not been keeping track of the European nations that allow it.
Second, it would actually decrease the number of sham marriages, since gay men and lesbians wouldn't have to marry each other if they want the legal benefits of marriage.
Third, global warming actually does hurt people directly. It intensifies storms and is resulting in some of the worst storm seasons ever seen. We're talking Katrina and Rita level storms, here. Not to mention the various tropical storms that hit Australia a while ago that actually managed to be more intense than either of the storms here in the U.S.
Fourth, I personally know several gay people who do, in fact, believe in a God. Therefore they are not "Godless".
So, in conclusion, I posit that baloney_muncher is the one doing the scaremongering, not Gore.
Edit : Ionakana - I've run into a lot of people in meatspace who actually believe this. It's terribly depressing. I just haven't seen it this concentrated before.
Yes, I can see, from your perspective, how letting gay people get married is much more important than allowing the planet to become uninhabitable.
Now, shove your head way back up your ass where it came from and do the world a favour, and shut the fuck up!
"GAYS are trying to get married and THIS [global warming] is what you're worried about????"
Yes.
"Fiction like this is designed to scare us and make us forget the current issues that affect us directly."
Irony meter redlining.
"Don't buy into Gore's scaremongering."
Don't buy into stupid Fundie scare tactics.
"Be on God's side and fight the Godless sinners!"
As there is no God and thus no sin, your last sentence is pointless.
Actually, global warming is a hyped phenomenon. You only hear about one point of view while there are other scientists who can proof that there are periodically returning "seasons" in which the entire earth warms up and cools down. A few millions of years ago there were palm trees on antartica and a few thousands of years ago we had ice covering hlaf the earth. In both circumstances mankind had little to no effect on the weather (those few campfires 10,000 years ago didn't warm the earth up enough to melt all that ice and we certainly didn't cause the warm period during the reign of the dinosaurs). On another note, the temperature has somewhat stabelized over the past few years.
But this in no way effects the pure insanety of baloney_muncher, but I thought that I'd share.
Dear Baloney you left your acme Sentence Scrambler on when you typed this post I have made the corrections to make it comprehensible.
Global warming is happening and you're worried about Gays getting married????
Fiction like this is designed to scare us and make us forget the current issues that affect us daily. Don't buy into Bush's scaremongering. God, if (S)He exists doesn't care one way or another.
While I'm not a firm believer in the view that Global Warming is a majorly human caused (and thus human fixable) problem, I certainly give it greater weight in my ponderings than gay marriage. After all, global warming, human caused or not, still directly affects the entire human race. Gay marriage hurts no one.
Meh, "baloney muncher" has to be a troll. A username like that and the precise irony of the comment suggest that this isn't serious.
Of course, we'll never know until our Acme Researchers debunk Poe's Law and come up with a way to distinguish parody from fundyism.
<<< GAYS are trying to get married and THIS [global warming] is what you're worried about? >>>
One affects my life (whether it's human-caused or merely a cyclical pattern). The other doesn't. Guess which one is which. The parenthetical comment should give you a big hint.
What consenting adults do is none of my business. Nor is it yours. In summary, FUCK OFF!
Wow...yeah. Where are our priorities? Here we are worrying about the well being of our planet, which, by our current standards of technology and knowledge, is the only one we have, when we REALLY need to focus on something that has little to no direct effect on anyone aside from the people getting married, and continue oppressing those uppity queens. Gotcha.
Global warming is happening and THIS (gay marriage) is what you're worried about?
Nonsense like this is designed to scare us and make us forget the current issues that affect us directly. Don't buy into the fundies' scaremongering (if that's even a word). Be on reason's side and fight the whiny homophobes.
"GAYS are trying to get married and THIS [global warming] is what you're worried about????"
Er, yeah. You see, some of us have a thing called 'perspective'.
Confused?
