"Gays" do have the same rights as everyone else. They are allowed to marry a woman, and I am allowed to marry a woman. They are not allowed to marry a man, and I am not allowed to marry a man. Therefore, we have the same rights.

You are quite possibly the most ignorant motherfucker I've ever had the displeasure of meeting.
Take your stupidity, and fuck off.
You have the same rights as everyone else. They are allowed to be Muslim, and you are allowed to be Muslim. They aren't allowed to be Christian, and YOU are not allowed to be Christian.
Like how that works when applied to religion, IQFalling?

But if gay marriage was legal, you would be allowed to marry a man, so you would still have the same rights.
Do you really not see that?
Oh, like you can have any color car you want, as long as it's black, or the "freedom of religion means freedom to MY religion?"
Go choke on a turd.
"They are allowed to marry a woman, and I am allowed to marry a woman"
And you can be an atheist and I can be an atheist, so quit bitching.
"Therefore, we have the same rights."
This argument is fundamentally wrong because homosexual males do not want to marry a female, and it's at your convenience to do so. Therefore, they have the right to do something they don't want to.
Why is same-sex marriage even an issue? Why is it the business of anyone (including state and federal governments) when two consenting adults decide to marry?
Will we also allow the state the right to decide who we will marry, how many children we should have, and what kind of family we should raise?
Why not just shred the Constitution and replace it with a theocratic dictatorship?

Does that apply to lesbians as well or is it just gay men that you have this standard for?
"Christians" in China do have the same rights as everyone else. They are allowed to be atheist, the atheists are allowed to be atheist. They are not allowed to be religious, and the atheists are not allowed to be religious. Therefore, we have the same rights.
There was democracy in Iraq prior to Operation Iraqi Fuckup - everyone, be it man or woman, was allowed to cast their vote for Saddam!
You could have any car colour you wanted in Russia! Not the Soviets' fault some people wanted them in a colour other than black!
[/fundie logic]
Which brings me to another point: There is no such thing as a "gay". There are only people, and the actions each person decides to commit. Some of these people decide to engage in sodomy, some do not. Those who do are not different types of people, they are people the same as we are, who have made different decisions. I think those decisions should be illegal for all people.
I love this kind of idiocy.
the term "one size fits all" is rarely a good one.
just for a example, by your logic - let's just say "Freedom of Religion" boiled down to you can believe in Scientology, but no other religion.
You would have the same religious rights as everyone else, you could believe in Scientology or you could not. However Christianity would be right out of the question.
I wonder how ElijahFalling would respond to this statement:
"Heterosexuals are allowed to marry the person they love. Homosexuals are not."
Does ElijahFalling plan on simply marrying "a woman", and not the person he loves? Last time I checked, women still counted as people (even in fundieland).
So why does he get to marry the one he loves, and the gay guy/lesbian cannot?
It'd be fun to watch him foam at the mouth ...
let's apply that to a scenario you would understand:
i am not allowed to worship jesus, you are not allowed to worship jesus
same rights, right? i think it's a good idea

So you think gays can marry women? Since you didn't specify gay men I assume you think lesbians are allowed to marry women, and aren't allowed to marry men. Where do you get your news?
It's like saying that you have the same rights as, say, murderers, because you'll be put to death in the electric chair should you kill somebody.
@Goosey
But if gay marriage was legal, you would be allowed to marry a man, so you would still have the same rights.
Do you really not see that?
Not only do they not see it, it flies over there heads with an oblivious "Why would I want to do that...?"
Confused?
