Multiculturalism is the most potent tool liberals have in their never ending attempts to dismantle Christianity. There is nothing you can do or say that will mute their attempts to eradicate Christianity. Demonizing Christians for their reality based opinions of Islam is just part of the game.

Spot on. Completely right:
The common law of a recently post Christian West has to clash with even a cursory reading of the Qur'an.
This where pragmatic specificity rubber hits the road.
Hasan
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”
is not in the Qur'an without inflection, nuance, context. It is not the same. The pillars of Islam create a different ethos. Believer/ Infidel. Different god has different demands.
Please tell me a single "reality based opinion" that applies to every sect and believer in Islam.
Besides, I demonize Christians and Muslims alike for the ridiculous concepts they espouse. If we're going to make generalizations, they've got a lot in common.
Home school produces burger-flippers.
And I'd be quite happy to see Islam dismantled as well. But I don't want to see mass murder, I just want to get rid of religion through education in critical thinking, science, and comparative religion.
Also, rigorous restrictions on what counts as a legitimate homeschool program to keep people from passing off religious indoctrination as "schooling".
A school with good teachers produces winners. Often, home school does just that.
In the case of these fools, however, they couldn't teach their way out of a paper bag, so they produce brainwashed losers.
Your "reality based opinions of Islam?" As in, every Muslim on the planet is a suicide bomber waiting to happen? As in, nuking Mecca will lead to peace and stability for all mankind?
That seems to be what a lot of fundies think(?), at any rate.
Demonizing Christians for their reality based opinions of Islam...
It doesn't just stop as Muslims, though, does it? You demonize everything outside of christianity. The Devil is a Judeo-christian construct yet you truly believe that he has an influence on religions that predate your own. He couldn't have because (A) he doesn't exist, and (B) it's a complete impossibility to create rival religions to christianity eons before christianity itself even existed.
Logic/history/common sense fail.
If Christians can't get along with everyone else then that's their problem, not everyone else's. If Christianity is so weak that it can't survive along side other religions, then it's a fault of Christianity and perhaps it doesn't deserve to survive.
Is it just me, or do Christian extremists find that anything they don't like is, by default, anti-Christian?
"Home-School-Produces-Winners"
We're talking the "Charlie Sheen" definition of "winning", right?
The rest I wont respond to because Y! Answers is a troll-fest & the OP is probably in the same theological boat as we are.
"Reality based opinions of Islam" tend, in my experience, to be formed by people who have had no contact with Muslims, let alone know anything of the huge variety to be found within the Muslim faith. As someone who lives in a Muslim country, I don't observe many Christians who display attitudes such as these because they actually know their neigbors.
@P-G
Just as you choose to obfuscate when it suits and be clear when it suits, so you choose to argue semantics (what does "orthodox" mean) when it suits, and you choose to be literal-minded when it suits. You know very well that and avoid false words (Sura Hajj 22:30) has no room for interpretation. Muslim opposition to lying is further reinforced by fiqh and hadiths. It is par for the course that you accuse others of moral degeneracy while yourself having a track record of unimpressive moral behavior on this site. Strike Three; you bore me, P-G.
We Liberals are not in the business of "dismantling Christianity"...we're in the business of "dismantling far-right fundy crazy masquerading as 'Christianity'". Liberal Christian is a cool person, whereas you, Troll4Life, PG-13, Mabus & countless others of the same ilk throughout history are meatball-heads.
I'd ask PG what follows from his premise: the expulsion or forced conversion of all non-Christians, or what?
But all I'd get in reply is non-sequiturs, obfuscation, and the good old word-game dance. (It's telling that for all the many posts he's made, none are memorable enough to get submitted as a quote).
"Multiculturalism is the most potent tool liberals have in their never ending attempts to dismantle Christianity. There is nothing you can do or say that will mute their attempts to eradicate Christianity. Demonizing Christians for their reality based opinions of Islam is just part of the game."
(*Is reminded of a decade or so ago, in which I went into hospital to have a (albeit benign ) tumour removed from my rectal wall. The surgeon told me that it was the first actual operation the anaesthetist present was involved in, but he made my operation go as smoothly as possible, and I replied that I didn't feel a thing. Said anaesthetist is now my physician who is a Sufi Muslim ; he & his family came to the UK in the early 1970s from Uganda due to Idi Amin's eradication of Asians via deportation, but are originally from Pakistan. *)
...sorry, what was that you were saying, Home-School-Produces-Failures ? I was reminiscing there.
Over 70% of the country is Christian. Over 50% is Democrat (that's liberal, to ignorant fundies).
Looks like there's a hole in your theory that liberals are trying to demonize Christianity.
Demonizing Christians for their reality based opinions of Islam is just part of the game.
When (some) Christans get a reality base about Islam, then people will quit demonizing it.
Some of us don't paint with such a wide brush. We demonize Christian A$$holes, and generally laugh at the other Evangelists.
If you don't want me to laugh at your beliefs, stop believing such ridiculous things.
Which culture should be the only one, then? Alabama culture? New York City culture? New Orleans culture? Mexico culture? Berlin culture?
It's never too much not to make ass-umptions.
Methinks it's more along the lines of Home-School-Produces-YOU'RE-WINNER!
Also, many of the cultures that are represented in this country do, in fact, have a Christian basis. But I'm sure to this guy they're the wrong type of Christianity.
Christianity come from the multiculturalism of the Roman Empire. Otherwise all christians would be a sect of Judaism.
Real Christians respect Islam as a form of worship of the Abrahamic God. It is only the uneducated, bible-thumping, trogloditic humanoids of fundamentalism that presume to despise and hate how other cultures live. the truth is that this type is utterly uncultured. So for them to speak of any kind of culture is an oxymoron. Read your Bible and see what Jesus says about loving your neighbour - and he didn't just mean the people next door.
Multiculturalism is the most potent tool liberals have in their never ending attempts to dismantle Christianity.
Ah... The standard refrain of a bigot.
You fundies are dismantling Christianity quite well on your own.
There is nothing you can do or say that will mute their attempts to eradicate Christianity
Yes, because treating people from other cultures like they are not stereotypes is terribly anti-Christian; you are just sooo persecuted!/*sarcasm
Demonizing Christians for their reality based opinions of Islam is just part of the game.
Maybe if you would stop claiming that every Muslim on the planet is a terrorist, or is in cahoots with terrorists... Just saying.
-qaz-
Multiculturalism is the most potent tool liberals have in their never ending attempts to dismantle Christianity.
I am pretty sure there is more than one Christian culture on this planet.

And he shows his ignorance again. Not every country in "recently post Christian West" has a common law tradition. I think it's not even the most.
And how fittingly: The liar tells lies about lying.
If you are demonised, it is on you. You spout hatred for all things non Christian. Also if Christianity is having trouble in multicultural areas where other faiths can thrive, then it is on Christianity being weak
Oh, you bet. I mean, when a single Muslim does something bad, all the rest must be held accountable for his actions, just like when a Christian does something bad, he's just a fringe loon acting on his own.
No double standard there. Nope. None whatsoever.
Fact #1. Plenty of liberals are Christians.
Fact #2. As a liberal atheist, I would love to see Christianity, and all other religions become passe like the Greek and Roman myths. This feeling is based upon reason and has no roots in Islam.
Fact #3. Home-schooling CAN produce winners though I'd bet dollars to dead leaves real schools have a much better track record. That you're an idiot is obvious.

Spot on. Completely right:
Nonsense, I don't give a flying saucer about muslims nor christians, just two sides of the same middle eastern judeo myth.
No Boromir, what you'd get is a painfully long, boring to most, conversation about where I think public law and policy should go.
Obviously no-one can be forced to believe in God.
But I think you'd be surprised how much many of the appeals to "expert" opinions here are just thinly veiled imperiousness. How much the IRS is now just a fascist tool. How much communism has really already arrived. Left and Right are largely arbitrary descriptions.
America can mainly be described as post-Christian.
@P-G:
Different god has different demands.
Then it's a good thing Christians and Muslims (and for that matter Jews) have the same fucking god , you twitwit.
America can mainly be described as post-Christian.
Wow, that's a big change from three-quarters-ish of the population being some flavor of Christian, like it was last time I checked. I'm surprised such a drastic demographic shift hasn't been in the news.
@PG
I wish you had lived in East-Germany during the communist times. Or even further east.
You have *no* conception of communism. Or indeed fascism.
We Germans have experienced both.
Rikalous, the editors at the Washington Post, National Geographic and the Reader's Digest possibly agree with you.
Well, uh, thanks. Have those august institutions developed some horrible reputation in certain circles, or did P-G compliment me for calling him a twitwit?
Well, colour me surprised, PG evaded the question, and dived off into a side alley. Communism has already arrived, eh? This why you have been thrown into a gulag, yes? Dude, you ain't even been banned from this forum.
Martha, you're not the only one. My son was home-schooled, for reasons I won't go into here.
There's no way in hell I'd send anybody I care about to one of those dumps.
PG:
Did you seriously cite the most dishonest excuse for a 'news' channel there is?
Do you even have the faintest clue about what a reliable source IS?
No, don't answer. It's obvious that you're too fucking stupid to breathe.
Just warming to the ........ march of the kings and all those Germanic symphonic things by oh so brilliant composers.
Aquaria,
all I'm saying is any corporation who deliberately , aka cognizantly turns their back on Jesus [adversely affected by inappropriate intercourse]
I wonder if Mussolini wasn't actually a nice enough chap just caught up in a very evil time. That's an honest question.
thanks Spruki,
Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power.
In another time and place perhaps he would have been the village mailman. Or a dictionary compositor.
"all I'm saying is any corporation who deliberately , aka cognizantly turns their back on Jesus is fucked."
- He has obviously never read the gospels (hardly surprising for an admitted biblical literalist)
"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." - Matthew 6:24 (NIV)
Like so many of his ilk, the more he posts the more ignorant he reveals himself to be. And yet, his desperate craving for attention forces him to post compulsively and repeatedly. Such a sad, sad man.
Shrinker surely only a hypocrite cites a text they don't believe in as a source?
If you deny it has any authority value why bother?
Every other poster here wants to talk about pooh, sperm, douchebags, dumbasses, intercourse. And you believing you've just ascended a randomly generated rung of entropy lowering mutational changes think some primates "got lucky" with their historical source literature? Ad hominem, including your own, is stock in trade. So surprise anyone with some exogenesis/ come now, what did Jesus really mean that should make you want to quote the Holy Bible?
Once again, when his ignorance is pointed out, he seeks to turn the focus on someone else. Predictably, he will now moan about how anti-Christian everyone here is, again to distract us from how little he knows about the text he claims to revere. He will quickly realize how sulky and childish he sounds when he does so though. He will then edit his text to something ambiguous which, he hopes, will be taken for wit. Of course, everyone will realize his edits are stupid, but despite all his arrogant rhetoric about being open-minded, he lacks the cognitive flexibility to think of a genuinely creative response.
So predictable, and so, so sad.
Well, I'm glad Dr Shrinker can interpret PG's ramblings for us. It's getting so I can't tell the difference between the real PG and the pretend ones (who can knock it off, by the way. Bad form).
(In case anyone was wondering, no, Mussolini wasn't a very nice chap at all.)
Multiculturalism is the most potent tool liberals have in their never ending attempts to dismantle Christianity.
Christianity is found in virtually every country on the planet. How would multiculturalism dismantle Christianity when Christianity itself is multicultural?
I don't think you know what "culture" means.
@PG:
"How much communism has really already arrived."
Look, I get the idea that social democracy could be defined as a liberal form of socialism, which would change nothing about it's efficiency if done right, but communism is something very different. It is (at least under Leninist, Maoist, Hoxhaist and Trotskyist regimes) a dictatorship. There would be no freedom of speech (which would mean you would go to prison if you said something wrong), no freedom of religion, no freedom of the press. They would choose a job for you based on your grades, they'd "give" you a place to live and control what books you read. Everything would be rationed and foreign products would be almost unavailable. This is not the United States. In communist country, the seats in the parliament are given to parties in the constitution, they are not elected - only the people are well, unfairly elected. There are dozens of other examples that are very far from the American reality of 2013, so let me quote the German comedian and historian Dieter Nuhr to you: "If you have no idea about something, just shut the fuck up."
@UHM
Indeed, under Enver Hoxha every place of worship in the country was closed, most were demolished and the rest were turned into feed stores, sports halls, cinemas etc. Having a baby baptized or your son circumcized could lead to a very long spell in a labor camp followed by years of internal exile where neighbors were forbidden even to talk to you. As for clergy, most were shot and nearly all the rest died in labor camps. In my home town, there are 218 places of worship, one for every 336 people, and they play a big role in the life of the city. All in all, another world from communism.
There are legitimate problems with multiculturalism.
These problems occur when it is taken to the extreme.
Your problems with multiculturalism is called bigotry. You as well Phillip-George.
@#1546690
Oh yes, according to the well-known ethical principle that one autocratic nation claiming to follow a religion automatically makes the entire religion fair game.
Oh, wait, that's not true at all.
During the 1800s, the American South used and abused the Bible to support their preconceived notion that blacks were inferior and ought to be enslaved. Does that mean we should call for the deportation of Christians? Or because Lenin tossed Orthodox priests in prison and confiscated their assets, does that mean all atheists are potential terrorists?
Homeschooling can produce winners, but it can also produce whiners. The quoted party here is definitely the latter.
Multiculturalism is not a tool for destroying Christianity. It is the notion that all cultures should be considered valid. Or is respecting the cultures of others too much to ask?
Dr. Shrinker
Shrinker, if you had said something about that scripture I might have replied but all you've done is post it and said "gotcha". Like I could go for an hour or two comfortably talking about that scripture.
Obviously you think you know what it means?
Obviously I don't have a clue what "you think" it means because you've said nothing about it.
At the very least cross reference it to two types of currency in Judea-Sumeria. The temple shekel and the roman minted coins.
Obviously Caesar had property rights over Roman coinage. Have you thought about how much?
Homeschool hero.
Kali worship, thuggery, skin heads, human sacrifice, cannibalism,
these are all the real history of the world and I have no respect for them. Muhammad was wrong. How much respect does someone wrong deserve?
How much blood has flowed from following Muhammad's creed?
There was a wall between Europe and Islam - millions died or were taken slave.
Unable to dispute that fact that corporations are, in and of themselves, incompatible with the teachings of Jesus, he begins a campaign of misdirection. He starts by saying he could talk about the passage for "an hour or two" then doesn't. He then tries to redirect the conversation to me, but he evidently has no point to make there. He then goes into a non sequitur he hopes will fool us into thinking that he is knowledgeable about history. In fact, doing so does not make him seem knowledgeable about history, anymore than mentioning Winston Smith and the Ministry of Truth ad nauseum makes us think he has actually read 1984.
?Shrinker?
do you believe God said those words
Yes or No?
Narrate me to death Shrinker. I'll never get tired of talking about the real Bible.
The one Jesus brought into existence as the WORD of God.
Mammon what you work for professionally is it Shrinker? So how are you serving the maker of Heaven and Earth?
With feel good gesture politics about Gay Rights while Egypt and Syria descend into multicultural hell?
Narrate me another fairy tale.
Let's see:
Once again he tries to turn the conversation back on me to keep from having to support his own assertions.
Says he loves to talk about the bible but, once again, he doesn't. We can presume that this is to hide the fact that he has never read it.
Once again he closes with scattered non-sequiturs (including a far out of left field dig at gay rights) to hide the fact that he has no cogent point to make on the original subject.
All the routine stuff he has posted many times before. Never does the warm light of originality or creativity intrude on the cold darkness of his mind. As far as he is concerned there is nothing new under the sun.
(That's from The Book of Ecclesiastes. Its in the bible)
Wrong in the plainest possible of all ways Shrinker. Wrong because you lack facts and are guessing.
No-one knows how technologically advanced the antediluvian world was. Presumably because of greater weather homogeneity technology wasn't driven by building and fabric development. Was Solomon talking about something else?
Greeks were talking about atomic theory at least two thousand years before anyone else? Does nothing new under the sun refer to basic thermodynamic theory?
Also Shrinker a vast amount of the Bible I possibly have a lot less 'dogma' about than you do.
You're rapidly looking like the average poster here - a bit of philosophical dumbo.
This is about my 7th blog involvement of any duration other than a couple of days. It is telling that some raging atheists want to quote a couple of scriptures out of context as proving their great insight into comparative religion. They are the most extreme dogmatists there is.
His latest response is, predictably, more of the same. He brags about his knowledge without demonstrating any of it. He makes allusions to ancient technological superiority with no evidence (not even a youtube citation). And, of course, he makes vague digs against me, without giving a hint of what, specifically, he is commenting on.
His technique of presenting pure bluster with no substance has played out repeatedly on this site, and probably in his life outside this site as well. One could very easily see a teenaged Philip-George bragging to his bored classmates about his supermodel girlfriend in Canada, and walking away convinced that they believe him. And yet, despite his attempts to portray himself as a free thinker and the rest of us as blinded by dogma, he continues his pattern of behavior without the slightest bit of variation or ingenuity.
Does no one but me pity him? Have the rest of you no sympathy at all?!?
@Dr. Shrinker:
Oh, I pity him. As I said before, I think he came here thinking he could troll for a few days and then get banned. That way he would be able to feel himself as a martyr.
Instead he encountered people that really tried to debate him and showed that he had nothing to debate at all.
So all he has now is just trying to agree to all the people quoted here, hoping to get some reaction out of the commenters.
Seeing that this tactic does not work, he grows more and more desperate, indicated by the frustrated tone of his last postings.
It is really sad.
Ingenuity old boy?
you just quoted Solomon on the perfect lack of originality in this World?
Talking over the top of me is a perfect sign of superciliousness. I may not be superior to you Shrinker but I know I am not inferior as you play the Parens Patriae Act I Scene I.
I can't help it if you are dull. Thick was actually the word I used. You're sophistry is masked however. Apart from saying your credentials impress your wife and that you have achievements in your career you've left everything else off.
You could form some perfect alliance with Kuno or some anonymous others but Truth is not a consensus decision and avoiding perfectly overt questions doesn't make you look any bigger.
I'm patient. And you're running out of celestial time.
FOX news is admittedly a bad way to learn about Islam, but ok. Here's the cashew: Muslims=Sometimes terrorists, very likely not(just like other people) Islam=A religion that was way awesome in the middle ages because it was smart, now it's pissy and hypocritical(like other religions that don't remember the tolerance message), Liberals=people who share my views on personal rights, but not on government, Multiculturalism=something everywhere else has, and america needs, Christianity=a religion often abused, but will probably not lose influence in america due to the above
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
