[In my opinion, religious people don't want a theocracy, they just don't want to see God removed from the history of America.
They don't want to see our currency changed, holidays changed, etc.
They don't see a problem with introducing alternatives to the theory of evolution.]
they fear christians, they fear it not because they REALLY believe christians want a theocracy, but because christians remind them of how lost they are ::Winking Smiley::

"They don't want to see our currency changed, holidays changed, etc."
Did you have a problem when our currency was changed and "in god we trust was added?" Yeah, I didn't think so.
"They don't se a problem with introducing alternatives to the theory of evolution."
Which speaks volumes of how badly our educational system is. Why do people think theory means something other than it really does? There are no scientific alternatives to the theory of evolution.
No I don't believe most Christians want theocracy, its the millitant fundie retards I worry about.
Lost? Nay. We know where we are, where we want to go, and, to some degree, how to get there. We'd be there if it weren't for fundies hanging on to our ankles, dragging us down.
Evolution is not even at odds with c hristanity, they are not exclusive. Beyond that, how incredibly full of yourself to assume to know how "lost" someone is when you believe in is a zombie messiah who was so important that there is no history of him until he is ready to be executed.
No baby, I'M not lost; this, is 'Lost'.

Bull Hockey! If we non-christians perceived that christianity had anything to offer, we'd be christians. End of story. From what I've seen, it's not like it's all that difficult to get into the cult; they'll accept any loser willing to toe the line and depart with rational thinking - and a significant sum of his or her money.
Unfortunately, if you read the boards the radical Christians post on, many or them do want a Christian Theocracy. They make statements like "when we take back the country," and "this country is founded as a specificaly Christian nation," and "My religion should be promoted while others are repressed."
And "alternatives to evolution?" Dude...there are no alternatives to evolution. You may as well also teach alternatives to gravity, or magnetism, or light refraction, or any of a million other well-established scientific principles. There is no "alternative" to truth. One of the greatest crimes perpetrated by fundies is the insistance that equal time and consideration be given to positions contrary to established truth. Such an insistance is ridiculous, and when scientists refuse to "consider" the alternative, mystical position, they are denounced as being "closed minded" and "anti-religon."
I'm not lost at all.
In fact, ever since I stopped forcing myself to go to my mother's church and started studying other faiths, I actually feel LESS conflicted.
I win, you fail.
True, a lot of religious people don't want theocracies - it's just a very loud, arrogant and vocal minority that want to shit all over everyone else. Unfortunately, said minority is growing.
The "In God We Trust" phrase on the money was only put there in the 50's. God, I'm not American and I know that.
That's because they're well, not smart.
Yes I fear Fundies because they do want a theocracy. I don't fear the majority of Christians, though.
I actually am lost at the moment. But that's due to personal issues in my life, and has nothing do with the lack of religion. With religion, I'd simply be lost and praying. Instead, I'm lost and thinking.
I'm lost? Wow, I've been so lost I haven't even noticed! How'd I get here? Who are you people? How do I become unlost? Does becoming unlost mean being like (*points to DiveCon*) him ? If it does, can I stay happily lost? Please? XD
"They don't want to see our currency changed, holidays changed, etc. "
Why not? Were they not the one's who changed them in the first place?
"...because christians remind them of how lost they are"
I'm not the one who thinks all of mankind came from a dirt man and a rib woman.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
