[It's from 2014, but still WTF.]
Fox News commentator Todd Starnes appeared on “Washington Watch” yesterday to discuss the case of an Arkansas junior high school student who had to remove her “Virginity Rocks” t-shirt because, according to a local news station, “the school said it contained sexual content.”
Starnes told host Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, that he suspected that school officials were worried that the student’s t-shirt would persuade so many students to become abstinent that they would lose out on the profits they apparently earn through distributing “free condoms.”
“Here’s my take on it, I thought it was interesting, [the student’s mom] said what’s really interesting is that any child in that junior high school can go to the counselor’s office and ask for and receive free condoms and yet her daughter cannot wear her pro-abstinence t-shirt in the public school,” Starnes said. “Here’s what I think the issue is Tony Perkins, I believe that maybe they were concerned this pro-abstinence t-shirt might cut into this school’s condom profits .”
Sadly, Starnes never bothered to explain exactly how students being convinced to remain abstinent would undermine the school's ability to profit from providing free condoms:

Officially the stuipdest comment I've ever read! This is on a level with the Bathtub Leviathan post!
Top 100!
This is so stupid, I think I actually lost a few IQ points reading it.
And the only way the school would be profitting from offering *free* condoms, would be if whomever is supplying the school were paying them to take them....
Todd Starnes and Tony Perkins bought a load of oranges and sold them for the same price per orange as they paid for them. Afterwards, they found they'd just made back the expenses, making no profit.
Todd: "I *TOLD* you so! We should have bought a bigger load!!"
Stupid school, stupid news commentator, stupid world! Seriously, "virginity rocks" is not sexual content, and don't even get me started on profiting off free condoms.

How much profit do you get by distributing free condoms? I know, they make up for it by volume.
@Teddeck
Wouldn't Fox "anarcho-capitalism would be ideal" News be FOR such an underhanded and corrupt way of doing business?
Not when it comes to yet another chance to whip up the ignorant right into a frenzy so they'll keep hating the left and voting Republican.
Ooh! I know this one!
My s-i-l's mother is a substitute teacher and religious whackjob. She believes that the school district she works for is getting kickbacks from the condom makers. The train of thought being the more condoms given to the students for free the more the school will have to order (and pay for with tax payer money). The more condoms ordered the bigger the kickback.
This woman teaches history to our children (with textbooks from Texas).
1) How do you make a profit off of free condoms?
2) Does anyone actually pay attention to t-shirt advertising?
3) Why aren't you damn kids buying your own condoms, dammit? Or your parents getting them? Or your partner's parents? (Yes, I had to restock, so annoyed at people that get freebies for now)
Hey Todd, how does giving away stuff equal to making profits?
Also the success of "abstinence only" sex education leads to higher teen pregnancy rates.
I do agree however that forcing the student to take off the shirt was a bit crass as I feel it does violate the student's freedom of speech.

Virginity is overrated .

Just ask someone whose cherry was popped by the school hotty. And has never regretted it.
...oh, and I had my own condom with me; Boy Scouts, 'Be Prepared' and all that jazz. And this was decades ago in the UK, when the concept of condom availability in school was unheard of. NEXT!
@Kanna
With the addition of - perhaps on the back of said T-shirt - the words 'Getting Your Rocks Off Rocks !'.
It's like a black hole of stupidity, morally, socially, economically, reality, someone with this poor of reasoning skills this is barely fit to even live independently, why are these people out here giving advice and their own views? Goddamn, fuck you Todd Starnes, fuck you Tony Perkins, fuck you whatever this Arkansas school is, and most of all, fuck you Fox News for even trying to think this sort of thing is mainstream.
To teenagers, even a shirt with just the word "rocks" would be considered sexual content. Take it from me, I took high schoolers on a geology field trip and still wince whenever I hear "schist" or "cleavage planes."
1. What everybody else said, here (with exception of occasional frummy trolls who may appear, like Jerky or Troll4Life).
2. Everyone on all sides of this sounds like a goober.
3. You can't make a profit off of something that's free.
school officials were worried that the student’s t-shirt would persuade so many students to become abstinent ...
Oh, yeah, like a tee shirt is going to work better than Dubya's "abstinence only" sex ed.
Be careful what you ask for, because it's either free speech for all or for none. Would Starnes be OK if another student wore a tee shirt that said "virginity is overrated" or "virginity - making a virtue out of necessity for the ugly since 4000 BC"?
school officials were worried that the student’s t-shirt would persuade so many students to become abstinent ...
Even worse, if she wore a green shirt on Thursday it would prove her gayness, and probably turn everybody gay in the whole school. Then Abstinence would rule the town and there would be no next generation. And it would be the end times for Arkansas, and all them Gheys would marry their dogs, and . . .
@ Kanna
I'm tempted to make a t-shirt saying "virginity is highly over-rated".
I saw one; Virginity is its own punishment.
Zero Tolerance. This reminds me of the 6 year old boy who was suspended from school for kissing a little girl on the cheek.
I agree with Fox News that the school was wrong. The profit idea is nuts.
...
Wait, I agree with Fox News? I feel dirty.
@Frank
"Here in the UK every school above infant has a uniform. It stops all this kind of nonsense and who's wearing the most expensive trainers etc. It instills a sense of identity with the school they attend and hopefully a willingness to learn instead of trying to look like a walking advert. "
It doesn't fucking work.
Trainers may be banned, but that doesn't prevent it from being obvious which kids are poor and rich, because a lot of the time parents have to buy most parts of the uniforms (particularly trousers and shoes) from third parties rather than from the school itself. Not to mention that kids can be cruelly inventive in finding ways of bullying those of their peers who are poor.
A sense of identity with the school? Don't make me fucking laugh. That's just bullshit. It takes more than a uniform to make one identify with one's place of work, just ask anyone who works a zero-hours contract. Kids identify more with their friends, cliques and other groups than they do with their school.
As for willingness to learn, that depends on the quality of the teachers and how supportive the parents are of the kids' interest, not a fucking uniform.
@Weetryhard
"Well isn't that sweet make fun of someone choice not to have sex."
Yes.
Just as I am making fun of someone who is so educationally inferior , he cannot choose to learn about proper grammatical rules .
Isn't that sweet, Mr. Retarded ...?!
There are people in Holland, who speak English as a second language, who know about how to use that second language infinitely better than you can.
I suggest you come back when you have learned how to do so, you mental midget. Perhaps you'll be able to properly formulate a cogent thought that the rest of us may consider the basis of a credible opinion .
Education eliminates ignorance .
Now you go back to your pop-up ABC book; the one plastic coated so the thick cardboard pages won't turn to pulp, because of all the drool that keeps coming out of your mouth, dear, the adults are talking.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
