"we could support a register of same-sex unions"
Could? Hell, we should! Perhaps call it marriage?
"only if it had the same status as perhaps a register of pedophiles so the government / community could moniter and administer this group of unrepentant sexually immoral people."
Ok, now you fail. One sentence and you fail, congrats!
"We could add the rest of the sexually immoral who will not inherit the Kindom of God"
The Kindom of God, sounds like a theme park, I want to be first at the stone a fag booth!
"I will be corageous and say we could include those people who have married, divorced, remarried (MDR)"
Can you please be corageous enough to put a bullet in your head? Why is it that fundies insist that two people who hate eachother remain married?
Well.
That seems to me like a whole new level of What The Fuck.
I mean, seriously. o_O
@Azrael: "Why is it that fundies insist that two people who hate eachother remain married?"
Because their holy storybook tells them that it's a horrible sin for anyone to divorce, regardless of reason.
"we could include those people who have married, divorced, remarried"
This describes my Pentacostal relatives. Sorry, no kingdom of heaven for you.
we could support a register of same-sex unions
That's what they want, it's called MARRIAGE!!
we could include those people who have married, divorced, remarried
Marriages and Divorces are all on file.
Your an idiot.
Gee, didn't they do that in the COINTELPRO days?
I'm sure they're watching the likes of you very closely.
"and say we could include those people who have married, divorced, remarried (MDR)..."
The majority of that list would be Christians. A substantial number probably believe marriage is between a man and woman, so they divorce and remarry and divorce and remarry women to appease God.
It would be ok................if we were in a theocracy. And using logic, why should the be "monitored"(specially divorced people)?. Right now, remarried people, homosexuals and unmarried couples will be making love and it doesn't affect you AT ALL(by the way, divorces are registered but basically for administrative purposes).
Community does not decide to monitor "paedophiles". One remembers how the community monitoring paedophiles decided to go kick someone's head in... A paediatrician. A man who dedicated his life to helping children. A person is intelligent, people are dumb and stupid and prone to knee jerk reactions.
The sexually immoral?
Er... the Married, Divorced and Remarried? So my aunt would be on that list. She got married. She was then poisoned by her husband causing her liver failure while he would physically abuse the children. He got away scott free and eventually she divorced him... She remarried into a loving caring relationship. So she gets to go to hell because she did not stay in a horrible relationship involving violence?
As for other sexual perversions... I want to see that list. Cause I am pretty sure most people would be on that list because we all like something "slightly perverted".
"I will be courageous and say we could include those people who have married, divorced, remarried (MDR).."
If you were COURAGEOUS, you'd say that right to people's faces. Go on. Go to your co-worker who's remarried, and tell him or her that they are disgusting abominations who will be horribly tormented by God one day because they deserve it, being nothing but garbage and evil. Do it.
I have a question. My husband's aunt and her husband got divorced. Then some time later they remarried each other (I know, I know, but that's what happened). Does that mean that they narrowly dodged the "they're evil!" bullet, or are they cheating on each other WITH each other?
Sadly, the latter seems like the usual fundie mindset.
Doesn't god already keep these lists? Isn't he the judge of all? It is his job, not yours, to judge people. Therefore, if he is up there knowing all, he has been way ahead of you since the dawn of time. And, since he makes us, he knows beforehand who is homosexual since he makes them that way.
Your list is useless to anyone but bigots who would use it for persecution. Oh, you loving fundies.
You know you can't actually force people to hate anyone on any list. So, go ahead, register anyone for anything.
Fundie: WARNING! Them two blokes over dere are teh ghey on the marriage register!
Community: Err... whatever. Congratulations on your union.

Unfortunately, they do. Are you familiar with "Megan's Law" in the U.S.? Many U.S. states now keep a public list of "registered sex offenders," which includes everyone from serial child rapists to guys who got caught streaking in college as a Fraternity stunt. States like Oklahoma even have laws forbidding anyone of that list -- including the one-time streakers -- from living within 1000 feet of any school, effectively banning them from city life altogether.

I think you're confusing two stories: there was indeed a case where an illiterate fucktard mistook an English paediatrician for a child molester, but he "only" vandalized her door, spray-painting "paedo" on it.
That said, there have been cases of self-appointed vigilantes killing people after picking a name at random in a list of registered sex offenders. As if that wasn't frightening enough, these lists tend to be rather vague and to include people who have no business being on such a list. I remember reading about a 14-15yo girl who shared some naked/topless pictures of herself: thanks to an overzealous prosecutor, she is now registered as a child pornographer... Similarly, two 14yo lovers got registered as child molesters because, under a particularly myopic interpretation of the law of their state, by making love they molested each other.
The end result is that these lists end up being counter-productive, hiding the actually dangerous sex offenders in the mass and making it next to impossible for someone on such a public list to rebuild a life.(this often makes disappearing to start a new life under a fake identity a very attractive option, which once again is counter-productive for the police, who'd prefer to be able to keep tabs on the registered offenders).
Yes, let's use government resources to invade the privacy of citizens who have done nothing wrong, and for whom there is no reason to believe they will ever do anything wrong.
Next, let's set up a register for people who don't have blond hair and blue eyes so that their movements, too, can be closely monitored.
Michael Whennen here, for the record this comment was made tongue in cheek, and was directed at Christians! As the Gay movement correctly points out, the professing church is hypocritical when it comes to divorce, comparing it to its stance on same-sex marriage.
Re: Tracer's post
The News of the World (a very downmarket Sunday Tabloid) tried to get the U.K equivlant of Megan's Law, in the form of Sarah's Law on the U.K statute books, as a part of the frequent "moral crusades", said paper uses in order to sell their newspsper...
As a result, a firebombing attempt was made on a Pediatrian's home in the Isle of Wight, after someone had painted "Paedo" on the wall of her house, & used paintstripper on her car...
The law failed to pass, after senior police officials pointed out that as a result, said "Nonces" would go underground, thus bypassing any police monitoring whatsoever, & that any victim of said "Kiddie fiddlers" would as a result be killed, to avoid any chance of their testimony being used in a future trial...
Confused?
