To me, Christian values and family values are synonymous. The Bible can do wonders for saving marriages and raising model kids.

[In all seriousness, have you ever actually read the bible, including all the parts where parents sleep with their kids, rape victims are sold to the rapist, children are killed and then replaced (by God, no less), virgins are offered up to God as a sacrifice, etc. etc.?]

yeah, by OTHER GODS. Genesis is full of that kind of stuff. most of the old testament is god's contempt for what israel is doing.

Well, they are not the same. There are plenty of families who are not Christian. Just because a family is not Christian does not mean they have no values. "The Bible can do wonders for saving marriages and raising model kids." The Bible can and does do wonders for destroying marriages, fostering child abuse and raising thought-impaired, robot children. The only god in the Bible killing, ordering killings and rapes, and praising incest is your God, Jehovah. Buy yourself a clue and ditch that ridiculous theology.

Raising model kids? The biggest ho's were the Catholic girls; the one's with the biggest anger and/or drug problems were the kids of the minister. I suppose, Ethan, that you will just fall back on the all-purpose-out: well, they must not have been real xtians.
And let's speak of saving marriages .. you mean good xtian couples not of the same sex have problems?? But they both are living in the light of your god,they are of the opposite sex!, how can that be? Are THEY not xtians, too, because if they were they'd not be having marriage problems? Or maybe the cure to a problem marriage is to admonish the woman to be subject to her husband and cease having a mind of her own? Gee. Move over, I want on that godtrain ... and hand me one of those mushrooms you've been eating.

Now we´re talking about Jesus. He condenms divorce, reasons?, because of a verse in the Leviticus, which grants ONLY THE MAN, the capacity to repudiate a woman, the rate of family breakdown at the time was comparable at that of nowadays Spain, surprised?, man, they were allowed to divorce a wife for things as stupid as burning the dinner. Everytime you say that the fault of societies ills nowadays is fatherlessness and invoke the notion of family values think about this. Not only you follow a man whose life, and that of most of his disciples were celibate, but also that the people he preached didn´t give a danm about family values as we understand them nowadays.

You should really worry, "Ethan", have a look at the so-called family "values" proposed and lived by your beloved Jesus and in the New Testament:

- Families will be divided because of him and his prophecies: (Luke 12: 51-53) Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

- Jesus deeply insults his very own mother: (Luke 11:27-28) And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

- Numerous other quotes by Jesus who commands people to leave their family and to follow him instead, who says that no one should call anybody his father, says he will reward men who leave their wifes and children, says we should not love our families too much ...

- And there are the well-known infamous verses by the old misogynist Paul, who commands women "to be in subjection" under their husbands. Furthermore, Paul calls in 2 Peter 2:8 Lot a "righteous man". Yes, the Lot who offered his daughters freely to the raging mob who then raped them.

Nice family "values", aren't they, "Ethan"?
