Why don't atheists think that we're born with bad intentions?
Because it's difficult for me to deem instinctive, dependent behaviors as "evil."
As in, God said that man is evil even from his youth.
That's nice. And?
Well this is true because when kids are little, if you give them something and like their brother or sister or someone comes take it, they get all mad and yell and stuff, and say "it's mine!".
Yeah, and there are kids that don't, too. A friend of mine has triplets. All three, a little over a year old will come to you, give you toys, they comfort each other when they cry. Yes...evil, evil children.
Well, that' evil.
So when a homeless person asks you for change, and you lie and say you don't have any, that makes you evil, then...?
so it's so clear that as kids, we're not good by nature, we need to be taught how to be good, it's evil that's "natural" to us.
No, it's in our nature to look out for ourselves first. There's a certain degree of socialization that's innate, but it does need to be fine tuned, too.
But why do some atheists seem to not believe this?
Because it shows an appalling lack of nuance. Things aren't just "Good" or "Evil." There are degrees.
