Obama's New Age...?
Did you all notice his reference to the New Age?
He chastised us for refusing to transition for a New Age.
It seems to me his meaning was a little more hidden than most would understand.

It is surreal. It feels like I have been transported back in time, and half-way round the world to Germany, to hear the inauguration of Hitler.

I've encountered many ominous phrases in my life -- including "Walk, Do Not Run" and "Speed Limit 55" -- but nothing as chilling as "New Age."
Your Godwin sort of hangs there. Try to work it in more gracefully next time.

It's on the back of your $1 bill: "Novus Ordo Seclorum" (New Order of the Ages). It's from the Great Seal of the United States (which dates back to the beginning of the country); which in turn is from Virgil's Eclogue, which many take as a prophesy of the return of Christ. So yeah, it's meaning is little more hidden than most would understand, including DaffyLady.
Yeah, I did notice that. Funnily enough, I did think at the time, "Nice one Obama! The fundies are going to go mental over that one!" And you didn't let me down. You guys are so predictable.
daffodyllady, you are stupid. Obama is trying to raise the country from its grave, and to motivate the people is certainly effective.
You are working against your country, daffodyllady.
Unamerican much?
Ages come and go leaving memory that becomes Legend. Legend fades to Myth and even Myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again.
In the Third Age, an Age of reason, the World and sanity itself hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the theists.
@God
Please stop giving evidence to support the Godwin here
Seriously, back before he went Evil, Adolf spent a few years building up germany, repairing a shattered ecnomy nd inspiring his people. Those who questioned his motives or methods were called unpatriotic... you're doing the same thing.
Fundies have been babbling about The New Age Movement for more than twenty-five years.
No, Obama is not talking about that "New Age".
I remember that in his inauguration speech, and I'm sure lower case letters were implied.
I knew somebody was going to jump on this.
"It feels like I have been transported back in time, and half-way round the world to Germany, to hear the inauguration of Hitler."
Not to worry. You're still here. You only feel that way because you're trying to function with too few undamaged brain cells.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1, aaaand.. Godwin'd! When I heard that phrase in the speech, I knew that you lot would trip over yourselves trying to read too much into it, and look! I was right! Damn, I should have written a book and put that in there as a prophecy- then by your logic I would be a divine prophet! Ah well.
Other people who could be described as ushering in a new age:
Queen Victoria
Queen Elizabeth
Elizabeth of Aquitaine
Heck, I'll throw William the Conqueror in there too
Qin Shi Huang Di
Liu Ban
Kong Fu Zi
Siddhartha Gautama
Asoka
Hammurabi
Ramses II
Alexander the Great
Marcus Aurelius
Nero
Constantine
Charlemagne
The list can go on forever.. My point being that there were many more influential people who brought change in the past than Hitler! Read a history book!!
Well, that explains a lot. I thought he was saying New Wave, and I wondered if Duran Duran was making a comeback.
And Germany isn't halfway around the world unless you're writing us all the way from an island in the South Pacific.
Oh noes, change ! AAAAAAAAAARGH RUUUUUUUUUUUN RUUUUUUUUUUHUUUUUUUUUUHUUUUUUUUUUUUN !?!?!
THINGS ARE GOING TO BE DIFFERENT, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH !?!?!
Things are... *gasp* evolving...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
