“The atheists need meaning so they try to become good people by being liked and doing good deeds.”
That’s a little backwards, isn’t it? I don’t become a good person by being liked. Blackadder is liked and he’s a fucking weasel. Mr. Bean is liked, and he’s a 12 year old boy.
SOME people who do good deeds are liked. But then I think of the Littering Missionaries. They THINK they’re doing good by leaving Christain tracts in the toilet, but no one likes those cowards. And no one’s being saved.
“The problem is that they or a group of them decide what a good deed is or who are the good people by consensus or group think.”
Just like every other religion on Earth.
“The group may decide it is good such as Hitler’s Germany who said they needed to weed out the weak and infirmed for the greater good of society.”
Yeah, Hitler was Christain. The SS had ‘God Is With Us’ on their belt buckles.
THis is an indictment of humans, not atheists.
“Same with our society that says it is better to kill a baby than to bring it into poverty even in a country that prides itself on upward mobility."
And Christain women getting abortions for THEIR needs, while telling the abortion doctor and nurse that they’re going to Hell…
“The group may decide it can destroy a business if it decides the business isn’t satisfying some arbitrary goal they set up which makes them a good person.”
Like the long list of good conservative boycotts of the last few years? The organized effort to boycott Target for selling Pride merchandise, or for doing away with boy/girl toy splits? Or for allowing transgendered people in the bathrooms they choose?
Again, not an indictment of atheists as much as the human species.
“The society may define what is living a good life and what is not by brainwashing that society into an agenda driven set of morals to make those people try to become good people.”
Uh huh. And are there enough atheists in the fucking world to drive society?
