["Why don't we just use the dictionary definition of liberal...?" ]
I don't use that definition because it is false. Liberals are people who favor taxpayer-funded abortion, censorship of classroom prayer, and just about anything that is anti-Christian

Well, let's see. I am a liberal and I do not favor taxpayer-funded abortion; though I do favor an individuals right to choose. Indeed, I do favor disallowing classroom prayer. Just as I am sure you would not want the Muslim call to prayer 5 times a day at a school your child attended. Prayer does not belong in school. And that means any type of prayer. If you want your child to pray in school, then send him/her to a religious school. As for "anything anti-christian", you are wrong again. I am against ANY religion being forced upon me in the public arena. If you choose to be christian, or whatever, I am all for that. But do not involve me..... So, you fail again.
As a rule of thumb when you and the dictionary disagree on the definition of a word, you are wrong. As such I feel compelled to drop the largest dictionary I can find on your head in the hope that you will get the point. Unfortunately this may take some time as said dictionary is printed in 20 volumes.
Because apparently, normal dictionaries have a liberal bias.
I think Stephen Colbert had something to say on this, though I really can't seem to quite place just what... hmmmm...
OK Andy, we're going to bow to Mecca five times a day in your classroom, and if you don't do it, we're going to kill you.
Coming soon, by the same batshit insane people who brought you the Conservative Bible Project, comes Conservative English Revision Project!
To feature such <s>errors</s>, <s>stupid shit</s>, correct definitions such as:
Liberal (n)
1. People who favor taxpayer-funded abortion, censorship of classroom prayer, and just about anything that is anti-Christian.
Why trust Merriam Webster, after all they are from liberal Massachusetts, or Oxford English, since they are in that fascist, communist, foreign country of England? We are right 100% of the time, <s>provided your brain is the size of a cashew.</s>
Brought to you by Conservapedia!
It's true because I, Andy, say it is! Sources? I don't need no stinking sources! What do you think this is, reality?
So...basically what you're saying is that conservapedia liberalism bears no resemblance to actual liberalism, and is simply the label you have decided to apply to the imaginary manifestations of your paranoia.
Tell us something we don't know.
@wellthen
People with mental illnesses will be very unhappy with you if you start doing that. Now if you want to use "Andy Schlafly" to mean "willfully ignorant #^@%" no one could possibly object.
I see Andy is once again trying to win a fight against a strawman.
What did straw people ever do to him, huh? Did a strawman steal his high school sweetie or something?
So, I was reading the linked article on Conservapedia, and they claim Marx, Mao, etc. were all liberal.
Apparently, these guys just throw out words without actually knowing what they mean. anyone who's studied political philosophy can tell you that Marx wrote with the intent of criticizing liberalism. Anyone with half a brain, on the other hand, knows that he is definitely not a liberal.
Fundie fail, yet again.
Say, Andy, I am a liberal who believes strongly in freedom of religion and is also pro-life on the abortion issue.
So, um, what were you saying again?
I bet around 75 percent of all American Liberals ARE Christians.
So, freedom of speech is anti-Christian? Freedom to choose your own version of Christianity (you are not all forced to be Roman-Catholics or burn for your herecy, like it was during the Dark Age) is also anti-Christian?
Good to know...

Yes that's a real book.
As for Andy being a performance artist, that's actually a possibility. I really have a hard time wrapping my mind around someone being this well educated, yet so fucking stupid. Is Mommy rich enough to buy a Harvard education?

Use the square brackets next time. Like this:
To feature such errors , stupid shit , correct definitions such as:
`I don't know what you mean by "glory",' Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. `Of course you don't -- till I tell you. I meant "there's a nice knock-down argument for you!"'
`But "glory" doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument",' Alice objected.
`When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'
`The question is,' said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
`The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master -- that's all.'
'Through the Looking Glass'.
The same way you don't use the usual Biblical translations, the usual sources of translation AND SO ON, because they're liberal. Ok, the world according to Schlafly, the last of the prophets. Don't complain afterwards why people don't take you seriously.
This guy is clueless ... He is 48 or 49, has a daughter who repudiates his non-belief in evolution, an elder brother who is gay, was brought up in, and married by, the Roman Catholic church yet he fawns upon the most ridiculous fundamentalists. I was going to add some clever comment about Andy being the youngest son and perceiving a lack of motherly affection seeks it elsewhere; so subverting his desire to play Oedipus.
On the other hand it's easier just say he's a complete w@#ker (an English pejorative)
Does that mean we can all create our own definitions to suit our agenda?
I don't like the dictionary definition of cat. Cats are lazy creatures who sleep all day, and don't do any work.
Yeah, that was easy.
But the dictionary definition of Andy Shlafly is true:

Liberals believe the government should help people financially when necessary, but should keep its nose out of our morals and religion. Forbidding abortion and holding state-run religious ceremonies are two things that fall into the "keep its nose out" category. Libertarians agree with Liberals on the morals and religion, but also think the government should keep its nose out of our wallets, too. Conservatives are the opposite of liberals: they want the government's nose out of our wallets, but are happy to have the government enforce their conservative morality and religion on everyone else.
I guess that after editing the Bible to make it say what you want the dictionary was the next logically step.
Keep working on that encyclopedia blog masquerading as an "encyclopedia", Andy!
Because people like Andy here can't understand the concept behind the word "liberty," where the word "liberal" comes from. No, people like Andy are all about making sure people don't do anything he doesn't like.
Sure, Andy. And we all know that conservatives are to be associated with personal responsibility.*
* Unless they offer to perform man-sex acts in a public restroom, stalk underage congressional pages, allow 9-11 to happen on their watch, have a fetish for wearing diapers during sessions with hookers, start a disastrous and expensive war that kills 1.2 million innocent people and does not make the U.S. safer, fuck the U.S. economy and then blame the other party.
I'm sorry, but the whole "taxpayer-funded abortion" thing is getting old. You know what I disagree with? Taxpayer-funded heart bypass surgeries. Oh sure, you show up uninsured at the emergency room after your heart stopped working and your arteries are all clogged. Well yanno, eating all that red meat, drinking and smoking was a lifestyle choice and you're just gonna have to <s>live with the consequences</s> die in the gutter.
(For those who won't get it, this post is satire.)
Andy : Liberals are people who favor taxpayer-funded abortion, censorship of classroom prayer, and just about anything that is anti-Christian
Inigo Montoya : Liberal...You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Just look in a dictionary.
Andy : The dictionary is wrong !!!!1!
Inigo Montoya : You're an idiot.
Conservatives are people who favor forced-birth, no taxes, mandatory prayer, and just about anything that is anti-non-Christian.
The sad part is, I feel that the above is not even a strawman at this point...(well, maybe the "no taxes" part).
I could tell Andy that Martin Luther King Jr. was very liberal and very Christian. But then, Andy would just shoot back, "No, he was a republican," and walk away thinking he had proven his point.
"and just about anything that is anti-Christian"
And just how would you propose to define what is "anti-Christian", when not even two Christians can agree on how to define "Christian"?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
