[After being told some Christians don't believe in demons]
Really?? Wow I don't get around much I guess. It is clear to me as I read my bible that demons exist. I think it is as plain as day. No confusion whatsoever.

Most fundamentalists don't

Delusional people are, quite by definition, certain about their delusions. Kindly produce a demon for study, or at least evidence of their existence (no, the bible is not evidence, it is heresay). Until you do, your belief in demons can be safely considered to be nothing more than a delusion.

Kristen may be many things, e.g. an idiot, but I wish people would use the word "delusional" properly. It's not even true in a clinical sense that delusional people are certain about their delusions, because - like vivid dreams and nightmares, which they resemble - they come and go, take on new shapes according to circumstances, brain chemistry and how much sleep you've had.
Kristen is not deluded. She is a simple soul who has read her Bible and possibly not much else. She has heard of strange conditions which can be interpreted as demonic possession and has never met anyone (on her own admission she doesn't get around much) who might suggest other more sensible ways in which they can be understood. We can say she's wrong, doesn't get what sort of book the Bible is or how remote its world view, but there are plenty of others who share her beliefs: the thing about delusions is that they are always private and stop you functioning properly. I know at least one psychiatrist who believes in demon possession, and have my suspicions about one or two others. What he and Kristen have in common is that neither of them have a clue what's happened in theology since about 1800, which is the time-frame in which most fundies seem to be stuck. "Deluded" is the wrong word: they just need some education.
Confused?
