[On Pregnant Women Drinking]
Oooooh but it's their body, they should be allowed to do whatever they want.
Seriously though, pregnant women should not be allowed to drink, smoke, or do drugs, and any that do should be institutionalized where they will be strapped to a bed for the rest of their pregnancy and force fed, and then after they give birth they receive a mandatory procedure to tie their tubes until they prove that they are fit mothers. Believe it!

While I agree, pregnant women shouldn't drink alcohol, smoke or do drugs, I am disgusted by what you suggest next. I hope no woman ever gets near you. how the fuck raised you? How could you turn out such a ... i don't know, I lack words for you
Believe It! once again shows zero understanding of human compassion, and like most other fundies, puts more value on the life of an unborn fetus then the woman carrying it.
You don't need to force people to stop doing it, you just need to explain to them why they shouldn't. Hell, just showing a would-be mother the symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is enough to get them to stop.
I believe you're promoting the stereotype of young children being idiots and watching immature cartoons like Naruto.
You're betraying your age group!
Which is probably mine. What a sad thought.
If they do illegal drugs, they should go to jail. Otherwise, fuck, it is their body, their choice.
I agree that pregnant women shouldn't smoke, drink and do illegal drugs.
However, your solution to the problem is fucking stupid. Not to mention it shows that you are an asshole.
Believe it, have you realised that tie tubing is both a contraconceptive and difficult to revert?, doesn't it go to "be fruitful and multiply in the strictest sense?, no, we don't believe it. If you start making exceptions.............
How are you still a member?
I mean, they shouldn't, but it IS their body. Just because we don't like what they do to it, it doesn't give us the right to stop them.
What are they putting in danger? An unborn fetus.
Now, a Fundie that beats their kids...that's a different story.
And your solution? Utterly barbaric.
And if I ever meet you on the street...you won't ever get quoted here again.
Believe THAT.
But that's just it. It's her body, and it's impossible to legislate such laws, let alone wholly unconstitutional (Cruel and unusual punishment, fucknuts.) I will advocate against such practices, but she's the one who will have to deal with the consequences of her actions.
I don't approve of women drinking excessively whilst pregnant. But a better plan, you misogynist sack of crap, is to get alcoholic mothers the help they need, and their children, too. Also, women who are alcoholic and pregnant in places with laws such like that are afraid of being prosecuted, so instead of seeking help, might feel they have no other choice but abortion. "Pro-life" indeed.
It's kinda weird, but I DO have completely different opinions as to whether a fetus is a baby or not, depending on whether the woman WANTS a baby.
If somebody intentionally makes a woman miscarry against her will, I could see that being treated as a kind of child murder. But if the woman WANTS to get rid of the fetus, I think she should have every right to do so and the fetus shouldn't be considered a "child." Similarly, if a woman doesn't want to carry her fetus to term, getting drunk or smoking crack shouldn't be an issue; but if she does want to carry her fetus to term, she's doing her baby unconscionable harm.
I told you, it's weird.
I DO have to give this fuckwit credit - he is one of the only fundies I've seen that is 100% consistent about his position on pregnancy/abortion. I've often wondered what fundies would answer when posed with the question of what kind of laws they would propose, consistent with being 100% anti-abortion, to legislate and restrict the actions of pregnant women. This guy just has the guts to admit it.
But that doesn't make him any less a fuckwit deserving of a retro-active abortion.
Yeah, and we can set up these cameras in everyone's homes so that the Ministry of Truth ("Minitrue")and their Fundamentalist Baptist informants can monitor people to make sure they don't do bad stuff. And if they do, they can be brain-washed and "re-educated" through torture. And we can all have a "Two Minute Hate" once a week where we revile the expectant mothers.
I agree with this person...to a point. My mother has always smoked and drank through all her pregnancies. Take me, for instance. Yes, I was in her body. And I guess she had a right to do what she wanted with her body. But guess what? I am no longer in her body, and yet I am suffering from problems I recieved from her smoking and drinking. I'M suffering. Not her.

Most sane ones dont.
institutionalized where they will be strapped to a bed for the rest of their pregnancy and force fed

If a woman is killed or kicked and causes to miscarry, the person who did it should only have one murder charge, or one assault charge. If the fetus isn't human, and it isn't murder of the mother aborts it, why is it human enough to be considered murdered if someone else does it? It isn't a baby just because the mother wants it to be. It's a baby after it's born. At least, that's what pro-choice people say.
... right...
*backs away slowly*
Any amount of alcohol (especially in the first trimester) can cause FAS. So none of this "as long as she doesn't drink excessively" crap, one drink can do it.
As for this Believe It! psycho, tying women to a bed and force feeding them will harm the baby! How can you possibly think that would be beneficial? You're an idiot, we should institutionalise you, strap you to a bed and force you to read medical texts until you can prove you are a fit human being.
Actually, I'm pretty sure half a glass of wine with dinner during the 8th month, for example, isn't going to do any harm to the fetus. Just sayin'.
Now the first trimester, OTOH, is a TOTALLY different story.
I think it was that during the first trimester or so that drinking was strongly discouraged. Once the kid is pretty much fully developed and just waiting for the big day, a glass once in a while is just fine.
that said, Believe It!'s consistency is the only thing he has going for him.
I'm probably going to get jumped on for asking this, but, if the woman can choose to end the baby/fetus on a whim, why can't she choose to draw out its suffering?
"I'm probably going to get jumped on for asking this, but, if the woman can choose to end the baby/fetus on a whim, why can't she choose to draw out its suffering?"
An abortion doesn't cause suffering for the fetus. Despite the fact that I don't consider the fetus a person, no one has the right to make it suffer (much the same as no one has the right to make a cat or a dog suffer) Most abortions are performed before the fetus develops the ability to feel pain. Later abortions are performed with the mother under sedation, which then spreads the painkiller to the fetus via the placenta. Also, the vast majority of women don't get abortions "on a whim". Your fundy colors are showing with that comment.
My feelings on pregnant women drinking, smoking, using drugs, etc is pretty much the same as tracer's. If a woman doesn't want the fetus, I have no problem with her aborting it. If she does want the kid, she shouldn't be allowed to cause injury to it. It all depends on her choice.
Scenario one: A mother beats the living shit out of her 9 year old. You all support punishing the mother for that. Scenario two: A mother smokes, drinks and takes drugs during her pregnancy, and gives birth. The same 9 year old goes through worse than that beating every day because of birth defects. You do not support punishing the mother, or stopping her doing that somehow.
Sorry, but I just don't understand that.
Confused?
