(conspiracy theories, sexism... I think I found a TERF holy grail)

What the fresh hell is going on with all of this? Not just the T, but all of identity politics.

I go between feeling like I'm irrationally obsessed with all of this, to feeling like, no, this really is a very bizarre, but very real issue that needs to be stopped. Where is this coming from? I am a 45 year old woman (born with female genitalia and have been dealing with it ever since), and I've been around the block more than a few times.
I was born in 1971. I was there watching and actually experiencing the tail end of the actual black civil rights movement. I was actually there during the AIDS outbreak and have seen how it played out. I've seen the actual and very real part of homophobia. I was there. What we're seeing today is NOT that. it's not even close.
I can't shake the feeling that we're watching a disaster in the making. I can't help but think this is a diversion from something way bigger and much worse than we even realize.

I don't have much to add, but I feel similarly. I'm a little relieved to hear a person who was an adult during tougher times say as much.
Modern libfem/identity politics is a crazymaking machine. It preaches that there is literally no way to address inequality but through it, and rejecting it is seen as actively oppresssing others. As if there are no other ways, or valid perspectives on a variety of issues.
It completely limits what people actually do. It stunts it's adherents and their would-be goals.

the uprising of transing kids is homophobic eugenics.

and a method for men to ensure their political domination of women's material and psychic lives survives the downfall of capitalism

I agree. I go back and forth, sometimes thinking "this only seems bigger because you spend so much time reading about it" and then realizing how much being trans is everywhere and how persistent the messaging is. I gave up being on Facebook after the women's march because I couldn't stop getting angry seeing women told not to talk about their bodies. (Typically I don't mind getting into debates or speaking my mind, but I'm pregnant and trying to avoid unnecessarily angry/unpleasant emotions and inane conversations.)
Here I feel like there are still sane people in the world. But I wonder - how many of us? And is it enough to stop the worst from happening? Are these concerns overblown or just right?

Best theory I have read? Anger after 2008 + occupy frightened the real elites of both parties. They shot a poison pill into occupy in the form of identity politics (just google occupy and the progressive stack).
They realized how effective it was and the media began to push identity politics and triggered Salem witch trial like impulses. There are an enormous number of ways to subdivide people and victimhood is delicious for a great many
Plus a bunch of tumblr kids came of age
It is enormously effective in breaking up powerful movements.
Right now this is not a left vs right
It's authoritarian vs libertarian where authoritarians span the spectrum
Edit: I should clarify: I do NOT mean libertarian as the current party defines itself, but as a philosophy where people do not wish control over the lives of other as long as no one is causing direct harm. NOT the libertarian party which is anything but

I don't know what's going on but think it's entirely possible that forcing people to accept trans ideology serves another purpose (and not just the obvious upholding of patriarchy). Trans ideology forces people to disavow a basic fact that is understood by every civilization and that even small children grasp early on: the biological distinction between men and women. We have supposedly educated people either not understanding or pretending not to understand that humans come in 2 sexes, just like marmots and goldfish and many fruit trees, and endorsing a whole new system based not on chromosomes or obvious physical differences but on indefinable feelings. It could be that trans ideology is just a bizarre mania that demonstrates how tenuous the human ability of critical thinking really is, or it was purposely designed to subvert it.

Not to sound all conspiratorial or anything, but there is money and politics behind all this. Once it had the approval stamp of the President of the United States, it really was game on for these misogynistic bastards to proceed full force. If anything was Obama's achilles heel, it was the transgender agenda.
Note: I voted for him twice thinking even if he was, like every other POTUS, a tool of the ruling class, he wouldn't be as bad as others. He wasn't for some--while liberal-ish politics played out in his and his family's personal life.
I will fight them to my last breath as a woman.

Yep. Trans is the new AIDS, and this time, the victims are mostly lesbians.
