[from a article about not abolishing the Blasphemy Laws]
This is not the beginning of a 'slippery slope'
Oh, yes it is! While most MPs were busy debating blasphemy last Thursday night, three of them slipped away to put down an Early Day Motion for disestablishment of the Church of England. The motion came out with the number 666. Is God trying to tell us something?

Ah yes. Steven Green. The man who demands the right to shout from every street corner that homosexuals are a disease to society. Yet he soiled his undies with rage when the BBC broadcast Jerry Springer the Opera.
Spell it along with me, Steve. H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E.

You're seriously telling me 666 MP's voted to disband the Church of England and it didn't even make regional news, let alone national press.stop
You're a lying sack of effluence.stop
God may not be trying to tell you something, although I suspect the rest of country is what with Church attendance falling below 1 million people a week; then theres the fact that every man and his dog, knows the Church of England is nothing more than an excuse to put the religious power in the hands of the reigning Monarch (Henry VIII), so as he could limit the power of the Pope over his affars and divorce/marry/behead as many young girls as he wanted to.Stop
So seriously, stop.stop
Lying for Jesus. There's nothing about disestablishing the Church of England in Early Day Motion #666 (more's the pity).

Early Day Motion
EDM 666
KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY
17.01.2007
George, Andrew
That this House, observing Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5th February 2007, sadly recognises that since 1988, an estimated 100,000 Kashmiris have tragically lost their lives as a direct result of the violent conflict in the region; welcomes the initiatives being undertaken by the Pakistani and Indian governments working towards a peaceful resolution in Kashmir; emphasises the need for self-determination for the people of Kashmir; and stresses that no viable long-term solution will be found unless the Kashmiri people are both represented in and central to the negotiations and formally give their consent to any final resolution, and that only then will the tragic and unnecessary loss of life cease and justice be delivered to the long-suffering people of Kashmir and both India and Pakistan become freed to focus on their common enemies, which are poverty, illiteracy, lack of healthcare, lack of sanitation and poor infrastructure development.
Maybe you should think about what other lies your preacher might be telling you ;-)
God damn Christian Voice. I can't wait until someone tries to remove the Lords Spiritual.
@ solomongrundy
I don't know what's happened there. I think they must recycle the numbers every year or something.
Either way, EDM 666 (09/01/2008) reads:
"Disestablishment of the Church of England
Austin, John
That this House calls for the disestablishment of the Church of England."
James, #517660: Yes, they reuse the numbers each year.
EDM 666's for the last few years:
2004: Physical activity and sports question
2005: Products of animal origin
2007: Kashmir solidarity day
2008: Disestablishment of the Church of England.
Is God trying to tell us something?
I don't see how he could, seeing that manipulating humans to make the motion the 666th would be a violation of free will, and...
...oh, sorry, never mind, you fundies only love free will when we talk about how rape and murder shouldn't be there. My bad.
Ah Steven Green. I (for a laugh) emailed him and his "group" after i saw his interview with, er i forgot the guys name but he used to be in Steps. anyway he was really rude to said guy from Steps, and said he was worse than a murderer just because he was gay (DUN DUN DUN!!)
Never got a reply to the email, even though it was well writen and i wasnt rude.
The only thing I'm told is that it's a BLOODY COINCIDENCE! Can you imagine the same thing happening in the USA (Yes, very easily) and a bill in Congress or any state legislature gets the "magic number." H-666 or S-666. No matter what it was about, there's a certain element that would go nuts about it.
James/Bzimmer4, I stand corrected.
It just shows that some committee clerk in Parliament has a sense of humour, I guess.

Yes it does (check one):
[ ] God knows fuck all about the British Parliamentary system, which completely fucks up his 'omnipotence' (despite there being dedicated Parliament TV channels) and 'omniscience', thus he's not God, therefore he is a contradiction to himself, ergo he doesn't exist.
[ ] You know fuck all about the British Parliamentary system, therefore your argument is completely destroyed.
Especially when you consider the fact that there's only 650 seats in the House of Commons:

Choose wisely. Either way, Steve...:
