[In response to "why do you [Muslims] stone your people and treat so bad your women?"]
We do not stone people off the street to fulfill our monthly moon ritual. We stone them because of something they have committed themselves. The religion plainly says :don't do this or you will be stoned. If you want to be part of the religion, you must abode by the rules.
As for the treating women badly: You cannot judge. You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated bad.

Or anyone else that breaks said rules, be they part of that religion or not

I'm not a Jew that lived thru the Holocaust, but I can still tell that they went thru some horrible shit. You don't have to be a part of something to see how bad it is.
"If you want to be part of the religion, you must abode by the rules."
and if you leave the religion you're are an apostate and therefore must be killed.
They get you both ways!
"You cannot judge. You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated bad."
Unfortunately, speaking in public is worthy of a stoning.
And remember women, you must dwelling by the rules!
(1) I don't want to be part of the religion, but I doubt that that would persuade the religious police in Saudi Arabia or Iran.
(2) By your own logic, you cannot judge anything about the non-Muslim world, but I doubt that that would persuade the religious police in Saudi Arabia or Iran either.
Oh, and good point, Viva.
"You cannot judge. You are not a woman living under those rules."
You know, he may have a point. I mean everybody says that murder is a bad thing, but I've never actually heard anyone complain about being murdered, have you?
@Man Called True:
It's not in the koran, it's in the Hadith. This is a frequently used 'second source' for good islamic behaviour but, unlike the koran, it is much more open to individual (or sectarian) interpretation.
It's like the difference between the gospels (that describe Jesus' life and words) and the acts and epistles which are the words/opinions of the apostles (i.e. an ancient game of 'WWJD?').
Unlike the christian bible, the islamic secondary works are not considered to be divine works in themselves.
"If you want to be part of the religion, you must abode by the rules."
And if you don't want to be part of the religion, the penalty for leaving is death by stoning.

Actually, she can't - she'd probably get stoned if she did.
The thing that I'm surprised none of you have hit on yet, is that the Christians, if they were 100% following the inerrent word of God, do believe in the Death Penalty.. and so , stoning is in their Bible for a lot of petty things too.
If I were on that board, I'd ask the Christian who set up this question, "Why'd you STOP stoning people despite what your God commanded you to do in Leviticus? And if THAT part doesn't count, then why do you count the part about gay people in Leviticus?"

What, and get stoned for opening my mouth - no thank you!
All the Muslim Women in the back, sing it with me!
"If you're a slave and you know it, clank your chains!"
"...You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated bad."
And then you can expect to be stoned (and not in a good way).

That's because you're an asshole. "Why do you stone people to death?" vs. "Why do you stone to people to death?" Get a grip, man!
In short, I'm going to stone Allah's Prophet Muhammad to death.
Actually, the first part I don't have much problem with - after all, if it's a person's choice to be in the religion, they should abide by its rules.
What I do have a problem with is those countries that have it as the state religion and everyone is assumed to be of that religion, choice or not.
Second part - since women are married off to members in Islam and the Qur'an says that you can only marry Muslims... ugh, it's just wrong, hard to say at what level, but, it is wrong.
So, murder should be legal, after all, no judge alive is capable of convicting a murderer by your own rules.
"You weren't there, you don't know." The last defense of the intellectually and morally bankrupt. Also a great way to get yourself in extreme trouble -- the Boston Phoenix had an interview this week with a woman who was a member of the Weathermen back in the 60s who got very far into it because she was sure there had to be a sound reason for what they were doing. When a bunch of her friends were killed in a pipe bomb detonation, she got a clue and bolted into hiding.
In that case, why do you commit terrorist acts because a group of people don't follow your religion(and they have apparently reasons not to). Moreover, if nobody can say what it feels if you're not living under that situation, why were all the people in the Middle East so outraged because in some far away country they said something they didn't like?
I honestly feel the only reason fundies don't do some the same crazy shit that the talban done is This country and as do most modern countries
have laws that don't let jerk offs and religious nut jobs hurt a child or women in the name of god .Allah Jesus .Mohammad .Buddha .or the spaghetti monster.
But their are still Nations and countries who feel they have every right to force thier religious dogma and thier with superstitious belief's down the theorat of every man women and child in the world and they allow such atrocities to be committed on their own citizens young and old women and child ., mass hangings stoning beheading along with sexual mutilating children and beating children into submission and other sick act all in the name of thier silly god or gods to continune
It sadly goes to show that superstition and fears still has a lot of control over man and those who know how to exploit those fears and superstitious will be allowed commit atrocities with out worry or care and will continue to use fear to enslave us and control many of us..for their own power and benefit. And we truly do have a very long long long way to go before can say that man is civilized race and our world is a world of
civilized and enlightened people .
"If you want to be part of the religion, you must abode by the rules"
And if you want to leave the religion, we'll execute you. Nice choice there.
"You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated bad."
Many women living under these rules cannot say they are treated badly because they'd be killed or otherwise abused. Women DO say it, but they have to say it in secret or be beaten to death by the morality police.
As for the treating women badly: You cannot judge. You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated bad.
So much for sympathy and empathy. Are these completely unknown concepts to these people? I don't HAVE to undergo the same traumatic experiences that these women do in order to form my opinion of them. I look, and I see, and I listen.
But of course, your insane axiom applies to you, too, Unforgiven. You cannot judge. You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated fairly and sound slightly more credible. Of course, this wouldn't make you right, but at least you'd have more of an excuse.
"As for the treating women badly: You cannot judge. You are not a woman living under those rules. If you were, then you can say that they are treated bad."
I was never abused, but if you think I'm going to sit back and be quiet while others are being abused, you're even dumber than I thought. We speak on behalf of the abused and oppressed, because they often cannot speak for themselves.
Confused?
