I think the problem is you have to compensate for a silly concept such as a lack of belief.
But a belief is something, so you can't lack it.

and you have to compensate for the lack of belief in Bigfoot, the millenium falcon, the FSM, IPU, and ceiling kitteh. but you belief they don't exist based on no evidence, so you are religious in each and every of these figments of other's imagination. you stupid E.T.-denialist!
I take it that your religious beliefs are so much a part of you that you cannot imagine not having them. At some point, you extended this perception to other people, i.e. since you can't exist without religious beliefs, other people must be incapable of existing without religious beliefs. In other words, you are so wrapped up in yourself that you can't imagine other people having a different point of view than you.
I would cite a few verses illustrating Jesus' opinion of people who are intensely self focused, but I have the feeling I'd be wasting my time.
