Gordon Klingenschmitt #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Religious Right activist and former Colorado state legislator Gordon Klingenschmitt joined fellow radical anti-LGBTQ activist Kevin Swanson on his “Generations” radio program last month, where Klingenschmitt suggested that the closing of an Air Force chapel for repairs was linked to the nomination of a lesbian to serve as a commandant of cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Anti-LGBTQ activists are outraged over the nomination of Col. Kristin Goodwin, who is a lesbian, to be the Commandant of Cadets at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Spring, and Klingenschmitt suggested that it is no coincidence that it has also been announced that the Academy chapel will be closed for four years to undergo repairs.

“They’re closing the cadet chapel for four years,” Klingenschmitt said. “They say it’s because of weather and renovations and they’ve got to seal the cracks so they can stop the water from leaking into the chapel, but is there any coincidence that the four years you’ll have a lesbian commandant is the four years that Protestant cadets and Catholic cadets will not be able to worship in the chapel? It seems to me too big a story there.”

Klingenschmitt went on to urge listeners to contact their senators and demand that they refuse to confirm Goodwin to this post.
