The irony!!!!, who told you that, your pastor?. Evolution is the latter, OMG, I'm still laughing.
Ah, Believe It!, the NF equivalent of supersport.
No matter how many times he's refuted, he keeps making the same idiotic comments (all of his ideas are apparently derived from kiddie anime, incidentally).
You know... I'd mock this guy, if he wasn't taking the piss out of Creationists.
What? He's serious??? Fuck me...
Actually, evolution is neither one thing turning into another, nor something changing to survive in an environment.
Evolution is the change in distribution of the alleles of a gene in a population.
One thing changing into another would be metamorphosis , and something changing to survive in an environment would be adaption . It is a consequence of the theory of natural selection that evolution occuring because of NS should be adaptive.
I don't believe it. I would have never thought that anyone who obviously flunked science, and has no clue of the definitions of "change" and "evolution" could post as long and meaningless a diatribe as that fool did over there. It appears to be an attempt to browbeat his opponents with lengthy statements of idiotic proportions so that they will surrender from shear exhaustion at trying to make sense out of that inane dribble. He must not have a life to waste that much time on posts.
@ David B : technically you are right, but this guy is so far from getting the general idea, the technical details would be way, waaaaaaaaay beyond him.
What are so many fundies doing in a forum devoted to a show about stealth assassins using a variant of ritual magic based on chakra? You'd think they'd avoid that like the plague (even though simply WATCHING it isn't a sin as far as I know)
Then again, fundies are not a single body, so it's possible. Also, people could have fundy tendencies, without going the whole way.
Sideshow Bob, Fundies =/= christians. They are people whose beliefs are so strongly held onto despite evidence and having such beliefs hinder their progress in life, and if they reproduce, their children and our gene pool's progress.
Yeah, that is how most fundies define macroevolution. Most of them draw a distinction between microevolution and macroevolution in order to sound like not only a scientifically uninformed dumbass, but an overly verbose dumbass as well.
No evolution is when my squirtle evolves into a blastoise... duh! Everyone knows that!
Who is trolling the Naruto forums for prepubescent fundies? I don't think you can be fundie if you're a little kid... all you can do at that age is repeat what you hear, there is no independent thought.
That sentence is grammatically incorrect. Allow me to fix it.
"Evolution is one thing turning into another, not changing to survive in an environment." spouted the fundie.
"Learn your science before debating at all." Replied every member of FSTDT.com
Much better.
I just broke my keyboard!
My forehead has a lurid "H" bruise from where I banged my head on my desk without looking for a clear spot first.
It's like I've turned into Arnold Rimmer. Am I going to become an asshole now?
David B. : You are absolutely right.
And, in fact, a lot of people here have been misreading "Believe It!"'s post.
By "changing to survive in an environment" -- if you read the post it comes from -- "Believe It!" means changing WITHIN ITS OWN LIFETIME to survive in its environment, that is to say, adapting.
Well, technically he's sort of right... the first is a somewhat garbled definition of evolution (he should be saying one thing giving birth to another), and the second part is adaptation.
But it's still pretty obvious we're looking at a stopped clock here.
Your logic be seriously flawed Believe It!
Transformation or Metamorphosis is one thing turnng into another.
Changing to survive in an enviroment is Evolution, which has been going on for over 4 billion years.
Just because it is not mentioned in the Bible, does not deny the truth of it. The bible describes the unknown in parable form as our forebears had no words to describe them.
Unfortunately there are some who take the parables literally and cease to think entirely.
This is called "fundamentalism" and is a curse upon us all.
No, we'd better listen to this guy, he sounds like Hovind and Hovind has a PhD. Besides, he's acting like he knows everything. Why would he act like that if he doesn't know everything?
@DFox: I don't think children lack independent thought, though they aren't very practiced or anything, but if your right, doesn't that ran all children are fundies?
Naruto targets the 11 to 15 bracket, anyway.
"Evolution is one thing turning into another, not changing to survive in an environment."
Yeah, about your assumption...
"Learn your science before debating here."
You first.
You would have been 100% right, if you'd got it 100% the other way round.
So much wrong, and the irony of ironies, all packed into two sentences. Not a bad score, on the Stupido scale.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
