I don't "respect" the law, but that's because I'm an anarchist. Atheism is an entirely different thing. I abide by the law most of the time, if only because it wouldn't be worth it to: (A) clash repeatedly with the cops, nor (B) piss off those who don't deserve it, when it'd be much better in the long run to have people willing to trade with me.
Not even I am about to go on a rampage of anti-social behavior, and while I can't speak for anyone else here, I strongly suspect that if this is true of me, it's pretty damn true of them, too.

Why would I do that? Ignoring, for the moment, the facts that his very existence is debatable, and that, even if he did exist, he's been dead for a long time (fairy tales about resurrection notwithstanding)...even if he were here before me, alive, spitting on him would be a waste of spittle, since it's not Jesus, but his followers, who were and are first-class assholes.
