(In response to an article about stem cell research being done on hybrid cells)
This is not the first time. Human-rat and human-pig chimeras have been created and destroyed.
Mankind will continue to push the envelope.
I expect that the time period prior to destruction will gradually increase.
I predict eventually we will create an animal that has a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail. Or perhaps a bull's head on a human body or a horse-man centaur combination.
Science cannot logically be expected to refrain from pushing the envelope on these types of experiments as long as there is a strong atheistic tendency in science.
Without a belief in good or evil, there is no reason to refrain from experimenting on humans themselves.

First I've heard of it. Source citation, please.
"Mankind will continue to push the envelope."
Good, the frontiers are where the most interesting discoveries are made.

Yeah? Why should I care what you expect?

Just like the one's you saw in a fantasy picture book, huh?

See above for "pushing the envelope."
There will always be a strong atheistic bent to science. As science is based on experiment and evidence, it attacts persons who think logically, rather than basing their conclusions on ancient scriptures and wishful thinking.

Generally, atheists understand the difference between right and wrong, probably better than many Christians. We also understand that just because the results of research can be misused, that does not mean that research must be evil. The misuse of the research must be prevented, not the research itself.
What is wrong with pushing the envelope and finding out new things about how to combine different sets of DNA? Or would you prefer to ignore any scientific evidence that might once have been morally questionable. That includes most early disease research, heliocentrism, and genetic modfication. All of which have produced useful, everyday things that you probably don't consider morally questionable in the slightest, like antibiotics.
"Why do you insist that the human genetic code is "sacred" or "taboo"? It is a chemical process and nothing more. For that matter -we- are chemical processes and nothing more. If you deny yourself a useful tool simply because it reminds you uncomfortably of your mortality, you have uselessly and pointlessly crippled yourself."

I predict we will be able to create a fundie with a human brain, at which point the church of idiocy will disappear.
Oh dear... Let's put it another way.
If it has no practical use, then it doesn't get funded. There is no point in creating animals with a lion's head, goat's body and a serpent's tail unless research on it will bring about some medical benefit to human beings, which it doesn't.

You have confused atheism with lack of morals. The two are not related (if anything, there is an inverse correlation).
@CatsYou are one the way to destruction.
You have no chance to survive, make your time.
Hahahahahaha!
Take off every Zig.
You know what you doing.
Move Zig.

You'd think that the people who would want to create such being would be Greek mythology buffs/adepts, or movie makers not satisfied with FX.
I really can't imagine scientists, atheistic or not, having any reason to create thosr things. Maybe religious scientists, though...
And scientists generally have morals. All the ethics rules they have to follow... I hear they're pretty strict.
Yes, there's no reason to refrain from experimenting on humans themselves. Aside from HIPAA, and the OHRP, and IRBs, and, oh geez, all those committees and boards and review panels. Not to mention the issues with the funding. Can you imagine grant renewals and progress reports on those projects? The paperwork alone would make it non-cost-effective.
"I expect that the time period prior to destruction will gradually increase."
If the time period is increasing, that means the end is actually getting further and further away from us, not nearer. I'm being nitpicky, but he is trying to sound articulate and intelligent, rather than riddling his speech with misusage.
Confused?
