It's generally wrong about what it claims happened in the past. Even when, at the time of the writing, it was the present.
It does not explain "how we came to be"; it gives a bunch of half baked pseudo-babble which is nothing more than oral folklore written down after many, many, many years of retellings.
No so-called "prophecy" in your, or any other religions, has ever stood up to any sort of scrutiny.

If someone tells you they carbon dated a rock and got 4.6 billion years as a date you should first smack them upside the head with their rock and then run far and fast from them as they're obviously some sort of creationist moron trying to bilk money out of you.
Real scientists, on the other hand, know that you don't carbon date a rock when trying to determine the age of the Earth.
