Congrats on what? A country with 300 million people living under 1 $ a day wastes money on thing wich won't matter at all......
Media is actually pissing me off when they say India wants to enter the 'Space race', they have no technology or money to do that, i'm suprised they even launched a rocket, probably Russia sold them the technology because Indians are not smart enough to do that themselfs.
It is retarded that countries with poorest people on the planet use their money on that instead of helping their people.

It's restarded that some of the wealthiest nations, like the US, spends so much money on NASA, the military etc. instead of helping their poorest people. Or people whose lives get destroyed by hurricanes.
(BTW, I have nothing against space exploration)
Indians are not smart enough
Their economy is bad, but from what I've heard, India is one of the smartest countries in the world, next to China. (not sure if that's true though)
Honestly, I don't see how this is racist. To me, "Indian" just means someone who lives in India, it doesn't mean they're all the same race.
I kind of am amused that the person thinks that this is the first time India has done anything in Space considering they have been launching stuff up there since the 1970s...
Plus it's totally cool to just invest your money in giant rockets.
@ Worldsend: I wish you'd highlighted that, I went ages not commenting on this because I wasn't sure what so stupid about it.
Yes, to say that there is not enough brainpower in India to start a valid space program is utterly preposterous.
Unless you make the argument that it's all come over here to the US to get engineering degrees... Which is possible. Give me numbers and we can start arguing.
You know a lot of 'stupid asians' have made incredible advances in robotics, networking, transportation, and genetics, so I wouldn't rule out them making an incredible advance in space travel.
Know how much it cost India to send the Chandrayaan-1 to the moon? $85 million US. NASA can't even take a shit for that much. And ditto on India having a space program since the '70's -- they've sent up several satellites. Sure the Russians sold them tech; so did the US, Japan, the ESA and China.
Furthermore, there are ESA and NASA instruments on the Chandrayaan, along with the indigenous Indian instruments. Space exploration needs to be a cooperative venture for the betterment of science and mankind, not a global pissing contest.
It's always funny how racists react when they're told that a non-white country is rapidly developing. They can't do anything but mumble out excuses.
Similar to whenever Dubai or another developing Gulf country are mentioned...they usually pull out the whole "oh, they'd still be living in tents if it weren't for oil!" thing.(because the US's rise to power has nothing to do with natural resources)
Ever taken a look into how many Foreign Nationals are involved in the US space program?
It's called the _International_ Space Station for a reason, and that's only part of it.
Ok, I have to say this. In high school, one of my best friends was an Indian Hindu, who's parents came here from India. He was literally THE smartest person in our class. And it was the same with both his older brother and younger brother. From my experiences with Hindus, they are, like most people from the Indian subcontinent and the Far East, they are very, very intelligent people, and we could learn a thing or two from them.
Confused?
