(OP asks for proof that the Bible is true.)

You don't like those verses to back up how I treat my wife and others?

Did you know that the Bible has never been proven to be in error or false HISTORICALLY, GEOGRAPHICALLY, SCIENTIFICALLY, or ARCHAEOLOGICALLY?
I challenge YOU to do so. I've laid out that challenge many times in many venues on line and not ONCE has the challenge been taken up.

PROOF in the Bible....The Nile River, the Tigris & Euphrates (do you even know where they are?) , Ethiopia, Syria, Jerusalem, Thessalonica. Manna....exists today. Picking up birds from the ground (like our phesants/quail)...on the Sinai peninsula..they migrate in our time, just as they did in Moses' time.. It can be done in our time, still. TEMPLE OF BAAL....discovered in the 1920s. Babylon....extinct as was prophesied...and no one lives in that area as was prophesied. Many of the countries near Israel have, in their history, people, places, happenings that are in the Bible. E.G. wars, kings, famines....etc.

Are you a biblical scholar? Or are you just a loud mouth looking for attention?

Well, Athens and Mt. Olympus exist, so I guess that means we should start worshiping Zeus. And the Sumerian King's List says that Alulim became king in Eridu and ruled for 28,800 years, and the ruins of Eridu still exist so it was definitely a real place, so I guess you'd better leave that Jesus fellow and start praying to Enki.

Come to think of it, wouldn't the existence of the Nile River do more to imply the existence of the Egyptian gods than the Abrahamic one?

Also, Shadow, I just want you to know that it's idiots like you who made me agnostic. You are stupid, you never actually give any "explanations" or "proof" that can't be easily refuted by a child, and yet your type are always so smug about your ridiculous "proof", like you think you just said something really profound and completely fool-proof and indisputable. Well, you're the only fool, Shadow, and you make it impossible to take Christianity seriously. How does it feel to know that stupidity of the type you seem to be wallowing in does nothing but hurt your religion?

Oh, also, you mentioned that Babylon being ruins is also somehow "proof", but what about Tyre? I'm pretty sure the Bible said that's supposed to no longer exist either, but it's pretty clearly still a bustling city.

Even if this were true (which it demonstrably is not), it's irrelevant. Most of the Bible cannot be proven false. However, this does not mean that it is true. Burden of proof baby. The Bible claims something that we cannot definitively prove false? It's up to you to prove that claim is true. By the way, cherry-picking vague prophecies in the Bible after the fact, and then twisting them to fit a few later occurrences, does not constitute evidence of anything.

Even if these were actual "qualifications", arguments from authority, (including your supposed personal authority), are totally valueless.

Historical error: why is there no surviving documentation from the Roman Empire about the execution of a man named Jesus? Additionally, are you aware that Matthew and Luke contradict each other with their genealogies that link King David to Jesus? Likewise, there is no evidence of a census requested by the Romans that would have necessitated Joseph and Mary to travel all the way to Bethlehem because Josephs ancestors came from there.

Geographically: Did you know that the city of Nazareth did not exist at about the time when Jesus supposedly was there?

Scientifically: There isn't enough water on the planet in any of its forms to cover the entire world with water in a flood like what Noah's ark might have sailed.

Archaeologically: One would think that there would be ample archaeological evidence for the story of Exodus for the people wandering around in the desert for as long as they did.

And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.

The Nile's still flowing and Egypt's never been greener in recorded history. Your Bible falls at the first hurdle.

The city of Tyre proves your Wholly Babble fucking wrong historically, geographically, and archaeologically.

The fact that there are no four-legged insects, nor have there ever been, proves your Wholly Babble wrong scientifically. As does the fact that bats are not birds, rabbits don't chew cud, you can't get striped goats by having them mate in front of striped sticks, snakes are incapable of speech, sprinkling pigeon blood on someone will not cure leprosy, Noah's ark could not have been built and been seaworthy, languages were not "confused" due to a building project gone awry, stars are not "pinholes" in the firmament, the firmament itself doesn't exist, and a global flood never happened.

And that's just some of the silly shit that your Wholly Babble claims is true and you guys claim is scientifically accurate.

Once we get into the last millennium of the BC era, the Old Testament appears to contain some genuine history of the Jewish people. Nobody questions the razing of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar's army or the former existence of Babylon. That doesn't prove that the whole Bible is accurate. As for no one taking up your challenge, that's false: there are entire web sites devoted to debunking parts of the Bible. What you mean is that no one has succeeded in convincing you that you're wrong about stuff you've already decided in advance you will never change your mind about in the face of any rational evidence whatsoever. The fact that you can invent some far-fetched "what-if" to rationalize the challenges away isn't surprising - once you postulate a magician who can do anything, you can "explain" anything you like as "goddidit". Here's a challenge for you: name three pieces of (non-supernatural) evidence that would change your mind.

I've had similar "proof" from someone before - "all these places in the bible actually *exist*! It must be true! How could it not be?"

I gave an example of writing a story about the Civil War. I could list off a bunch of battles, locations, reference real people, but then make up some characters and invent stuff that never happened.

Bringing it to modern times... I could write a book about people and reference Bush/Obama/WTC/contemporary locations and things, but make up dialog between fictional characters. 50 years from now, *no one* would be able to tell the difference between this and historical fact (perhaps besides writing style, in that it's obviously a "book", not "news accounts").

If the only criteria is that the book references places that existed, the bar is pretty low.

Christian is a religious affiliation statement. "Teacher" here obviously means preacher. These are not evidence of any relevant qualifications. Fine to share one's personal opinion, or to share what one was taught. But not a valid argument to take any of it seriously.
