[In reply to the question why do Fundamentalists not respect others' beliefs?]
Personally, I don't respect very many people period. Respect is something that is earned, not handed out like candy. As a Christian, I follow Scripture. It says to love your enemies and do good to those who despitefully use you, which I do. But it doesn't say to compromise my Biblical belief nor to tolerate blatant sin against Yahweh as many religions practice.
Now if another belief (religion or denomination) teaches anything that is contrary to what the Bible teaches then I have no respect for that particular belief but I try to treat the people within that belief system as I would want to be treated. With the kindness and love that Jesus teaches

Remember what you opened with? "I don't respect very many people period "
Which is it, asshole?
And, fuck off.
It says to love your enemies and do good to those who despitefully use you, which I do. But it doesn't say to compromise my Biblical belief nor to tolerate blatant sin against Yahweh as many religions practice.
Ummm...this isn't mutually exclusive, sry2say.
Fair enough. So now you understand why I, as an atheist, disrespect religions.
However, I differ with you in one respect (no pun intended) in as much as I treat all people with respect until or unless they show that they don't deserve to be treated so, as a kind of general rule.
Hmmm, aside from the heavy-handed moralising and the first sentence, that is not that far off from what I think. I respect people as human beings, but I don't think it is truly possible to "respect" a belief you think is false - I think it is something we say to one another to make ourselves sound nicer and more tolerant, but the reality is that I don't respect the belief in creationism any more than I respect the belief that Elvis is still alive.

And yet your kind demands it, or you persecute and condemn and bitch.

Which is bullshit.

And yet, no one, ever, has probably ever asked you to compromise your beliefs. Just to let other people believe what they want to. Do you do that? I doubt it.

Again, this is probably bullshit.
Calling him "Yahweh" is a blatant sin among Jews. You know, the ones whose religion you ripped off?
Jesus would probably smack you in the face. But he loves you... I guess.
"Personally, I don't respect very many people period. Respect is something that is earned, not handed out like candy."
Am I the only one who kind of agrees with him on this? If you've ever dealt with the public or even spent any time on the internet you know that the vast majority of people are either assholes or fucking stupid, or both. I no longer respect people unless I have reason to do so, and I don;t expect people have much respect for me either for the same reasons. But, as Gregoreio says, I still try to treat people as I'd want to be treated, unless they obviously don't deserve it.
Plus, as already stated by others, we don't respect fundies and their beliefs, so this ain't gettin' voted very high by me. I maybe be a cunt, bit I try to avoid being a hypocrite too.
"...Respect is something that is earned, not handed out like candy. ..."
Which is why I have nothing but contempt for the god character portrayed in the Bible. Worst fictional villain ever!"
"

this I can agree with.
"compromise my Biblical belief nor to tolerate blatant sin against Yahweh as many religions practice. "
So by me believing in many gods and praying to them, and living a good life, I am somehow causing you to compromise your beliefs? Are they really that weak?
....
Even when I was a Christian, I didn't really give two fucks about what anyone else believed as long as they didn't try to beat me over the head with it every two minutes.
I retain that attitude to this day.
Actually, I have nothing against this comment. It's straightforward and honest. He has a right, as far as I'm concerned not to respect people's beliefs, much in the same way that we don't have to respect his.
"Respect is something that is earned, not handed out like candy."
This is actually spot on, and is the very same reason why I don't respect the other beliefs that you hold, and why I think your religious beliefs are more than a little bit silly. And quite frankly I don't care if you respect my non belief in you particular deity or not, as I like to base my beliefs on evidence and the existence of your deity (or any other deity) is completely without an evidential basis.
Not so bad. No belief system, including (or especially) religions, is entitled to automatic respect. And if he treats others decently regardless of their beliefs, I'd quaff a beer with him.

And now you know why FSTDT exists Gregoreuo, you fundy cuntbag.
I respect most religious people, as long as they respect my lack of belief.
Give and take, treat others as they treat you, as that's apparently how they want to be treated.
Respect is something that is earned, not handed out like candy.
Right. What did your god do to earn so much of it?
You follow scripture ? so you didnt have sex before you were married , did not masturbate (sin of Onan) , and your wife was a virgin on your wedding night ?
thats very nice for you , good work
of course you would have had to be stoned to death if you had broken those commands.
um.. know any adulterers, fornicators or homosexuals ? doent you bible say to kill them all ?
Sadly for you Jesus rules do not apply until he comes again, until then as Jesus himself said the laws of the Father apply.
Death to fornicators and adulterers.
Confused?
