This is what happens when you demonize people for having a legitimate mental illness. Literally a virtually victimless crime and this guy has his entire life ruined to the point where he would rather be dead.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Having a shitload of child pornography on your computer isn’t a symptom of a mental illness nor is it a victimless crime

Well, it could be a sign of mental illness.

As for victimless crime, I'm not sure. No one hold me accountable for buying clothes made in China. No one holds me accountable for masturbating to porn actresses that feel taken advantage of. No one holds me accountable for eating palm oil products that lead to deforestation. No one holds me accountable for looking at Jennifer Lawrence nudes. No one holds me accountable for filling my car with gas.

Why am I getting off for free, both by the law and by society, but Mark Salling is seen as someone who deserved to die and one of the worst types of people who ever lived? I understand his crime is worse than worker abuse, exploitation, deforestation, cyber hacking, and war for oil, but why is society's reaction disproportionately so fierce?

However, I still stand by it not being as bad as actually raping a child and stand by it being a sad circumstance anyway. I guess my main concern is that I still buy clothes from sweat shop workers and I don't give a fuck where palm oil comes from, but I don't judge myself for it

Well, I, for one, think tariffs based on the social conditions of workers should be a thing. The most immediate responsible parties are the companies, which should be fined into inexistence.

So, first, who would that be? And second, they are adults, so they can actually consent to sex AND work contracts.

Same problem as the first. Fine the companies into oblivion. Imaginary entities, which destroy the planet for their profit should not be allowed to exist.

Because protecting the defenseless is ont of the last respected taboo in human societies. Since everybody has been a child and just about everybody can have children, most people can empathise with their plight at the hands of child traffickers.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all, but how are you going to do that in a meaningful way? If you screw this up, you might just end up allowing a small amount of corporations to monopolize the market, which in the end leads to higher prices and lower purchasing power. Or, in short, you'll end up screwing over everybody.

Also, since I consider myself a pedophile I have already been thinking about collecting apple seeds to die from cyanide poisoning. Should I go through with it?

NO EXCUSES! None of them will wash with decent people, because unlike adult porn stars, children have a precious innocence which should not be tarnished by evil low-lives.

Sure I've worn sweatshop clothes, and used palm oil products, to my shame. However, when I'm aware of this, from new knowledge...I then stop. Probably because it breaks my heart to see that orangutan desperately trying to fight off a bulldozer.

Is that not already the case? Pretty much all of the clothes and computer components in the world are made in China. Apply a tariff based on their abysmal record in workers' rights and this might push either China to do a bit better or other countries to try and show that they are better and would then be less affected by that tariff. Well, in principle. I do agree that putting it in place is a bit (or a lot...) more complicated than simply decreeing tariffs because you have a trade deficit, real or imagined, with another country.
However, if we do not even consider it, it will not be done. I am not a good enough economist to know all the ramifications, but from the policy side, this could be somthing doable to actually follow through on European human rights criteria (rather than waiting for the goodwill of people who have none.).

Sure, but they have money and property which can be confiscated. Even better, target the executives. If a State can screw a corrupt executive out of his money, go for it. At least we can put hackers to good use, that way. Sure, it is not quite legal but 1) it has never stopped States before, and 2) fraus omnia corrumpit, it the money has been illegally acquired or transferred, it is not supposed to exist, so there is no possible claim for it in a Court of justice. These arseholes have been gaming the system for decades, it might be time for the system to play a bit dirty. But that implies politicians with a lot more backbone than those we currently have.
