"Colonist brains" are a thing. It's just shorthand for the internalized racism/subsequent paternalism that literally every white/white-passing person who belongs to a colonizing nation posesses. Does that mean everyone is a huge irredeemable racist? Of course not. But the guy who went to Educate an isolated tribe of Savages (tm) had so much colonist on the brain that he decided to go in person and butt into their affairs, despite it having been established that they do not want contact from outsiders.
