Now the government wants to take "In God we trust" off our money which has been on our money since the founding of this country.

I had a friend (not a fundy, but a little arbitrary sometimes) make exactly this same claim recently about the longevity of that slogan on the money. He was a bit surprised to learn otherwise when I corrected him, but he at least took it well and actually allowed himself to learn something new and replace that particular erroneous piece of "knowledge." Do people who can't (or won't) do this therefore qualify as having a learning disability?

First in 1864, but not universally until, I believe, the McCarthy era.
A variety of slogans have graced US money, the most entertaining of which in my opinion was "Mind your Business." It appeared on the first penny coin that Congress authorized ... and the advice is just as good today as it was in the 1780's.
Except it wasn't. It was added during the Red Scare to show that we were better than "those godless commie pinko bastards". (At least, that's when it became universal. Not coincidentally, if memory serves that's also when the Pledge first included the words "under God".)
Heidi, if you believe that, I have a Christian casino to sell you! "In God We Trust" was put on metal currency in the 1840's, and on paper currency in the 1950's.

How in hell can anyone be so damned stupid? >>

I agree, this thread is just begging to have some portion of it posted separately here for proper ridicule. This woman't mind is absolutely impervious to any correction of her preconceived, cartoonish ideas about evolution. This isn't just ignorance; this is a prime example of fundie brainwashing.

If you say something often enough...
The Fundie creed is mostly to reinforce these lies to their flock. People who don't look into it and research will believes these things to the grave. Especially since they discourage looking into the "worldly" or "secular" view.
In God We Trust first appeared an the U.S. 2 cent piece
in 1862, on other coins in 1864. Paper currency showed it
first in 1955. Any coin collector or coin shop can show that via their collections. I would never say things like that without doing some research. These fundies make up all
kinds of crazy stuff without doing any homework on it.
no, fail, wrong, fail, fail, fucking FAIL!!!!
try 1950s...McCarthyism...ring any bells?
No? Well, you're a retard, then
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
