never never give up, the fat is in the fry pan, many many atheists are watching the unfolding of events in the middle east, many of the hard corps types really know their bibles well, and in a word, they are scared...... the news is matching th e bible and they know deep down that it isnt a coincidence that the ancients would know that oil would be found in the middle east and oil would focus the attention of the entire world on Israel and that armageddon would be near Israel and Gog and Magog, and all the other end times focus on what would otherwise be an unvaluable postage stamp piece of arid land that otherwise only sheep herders would care about..... keep witnessing,they are cracking as we speak.....

Yes, as a hardcore atheist, I've studied the Bible and related materials for years. I am scared. Not of events in the middle east as they pertain to fulfillment of Xian theology, I'm scared of how religious zealots around the world are going to react to events in the middle east.

First, do not presume to tell me what I know. If I deem it important to YOU, I'll tell YOU.
Second, I don't believe you can show any good, solid evidence that "the ancients" knew there was oil to be found in the middle east or that oil would be a valuable resource thousands of years in the future.

There is no oil of any importance to be found in Israel.

If they paid attention to their scriptures they would know that, as armageddon refers to the city/fort of Megiddo.

This isn't the first conflict in the Middle East and will, by no means, be the last. Since the Middle East is the "Cradle of Civilization", it was natural that the ancients would think the end of the world would start there. Not really a coincidence, that one.

It is NOT a coincidence that the after-the-fact fundie "interpretation" of a vague bunch of Bible prophecies matches the events of the real world perfectly.thinking that the Bible is true), and are thus turning vague "predictions" into fulfilled postdictions, while claiming that the "predictions" had been specific from the start and could only mean what the fundies now say they mean.
What worries Atheists who know the Bible,(or more importantly, interpretations of verses by the far-right fundie nutbars) is what you idiots think is predicted and your attempt to force that into being.
Israel was made a country by this self-fulfilling prophecy (which I believe actually stated that Israel would ALWAYS be the land of the Jews, not returned to them) try applying this to all the countries that have changed hands over the centuries, like the Americas and you'll start to see the folly.
