(About the LHC)
A big CON-CERN to everyone obviously. But who's being conned eh? The big bang theory is only theory. Why waste so much precious money on theoretical wishy washy wishful thinking, which may or may not prove anything. No wonder there's so much anger in peoples' hearts when there are human beings suffering for lack of essentials. Stinks don't it? If the gnostics want some evidence of creation all they have to is read the first chapter of the Bible. There's far more facts to hold onto in the truth, than there is in theory. How much will this information cost? Nothing. Now that's something to be CON-CERN-ED about...

[The big bang theory is only theory.]
Oh, FFS. Don't you guys ever learn?
[If the gnostics want some evidence of creation all they have to is read the first chapter of the Bible.]
What does the Bible say about red-shifted light and cosmic background radiation? Don't forget to cite book, chapter, and verse, please.
Nope.
Um, Gnostics do not have to read ANYTHING. They receive their knowledge directly from the MONAD.
And the MONAD says there was a 'deed of thought' and the PLEROMA filled with light.
@Old Viking - you beat me to it.
Incidentally, regarding reading the first chapter of the babble, which babble are you talking about and which account of Genesis are you referring to?
"The big bang theory is only theory."
Yes, meaning it's supported by plenty of peer-reviewed evidence. Thank you for making our point for us.
Ho num....here we go again...The big bang theory is only theory.
A theory is as certain as it gets in modern science.
But creationism isn't a theory, it's not even a hypothesis. It's a fairytale, or to be more accurate it's two mutually incompatible fairy-tales, each borrowed from earlier pagan creation myths.
"No wonder there's so much anger in peoples' hearts when there are human beings suffering for lack of essentials."
You mean like, the lack of clean fresh water brought about by infighting between local religious groups?
Or the lack of drought-resistant crops brought about by religious resistance to genetic engineering?
Or the lack of vaccines brought about by anti-vaccination religious beliefs?
Or the lack of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS, brought about by religious opposition to condom use?
"The big bang theory is only theory"
The overwhelming evidence for Evolution makes the logical person realise it's FACT. The cherry on the cake was the discovery of Darwinius masillae - the 'Missing Link' (now found). Thus Darwin was proved right. Therefore, his 'Theory of Evolution' is now the FACTS of Evolution. Ergo, the biological aspect of the 'Creation' story in Genesis has been destroyed.
QED.
And soon the LHC will prove the Big Bang is no longer a theory, but FACT. And thus will the cosmological aspect of the 'Creation' story in Genesis be destroyed. Ergo, 'God' will be proved to be like Zeus, Jupiter, Amun-Ra etc: FICTIONAL.
Facts. Destroys myths every time.
One of the first signs where you can tell that ignorant bullshit is about to be spewed is when someone says "The [insert here] theory is only a theory".
This statement shows such an ignorance of science that whatever else is stated can surely be ignored...as was the case here.
Gnostics don't need to read the Bible. They already believe in God. Perhaps you meant agnostics? That's funny, because the same error would cause you to rage against such sinful theists as Richard Dawkins.
If there's one thing to love about the fundies, it's their commitment to proper spelling.
Ah, John-o, your clever word play on the name CERN is just so fresh and unique. Kudos to your bulging intellect.
Why waste so much precious money on theoretical wishy washy wishful thinking, which may or may not prove anythingt.
You mean like all the money that's been thrown at religion over the course of the entire human history in attempt to buy one's way into Heaven? Like that kind of money?
there are human beings suffering for lack of essentials
Yeah, so what are you personally doing about it, John-o?
some evidence of creation all they have to is read the first chapter of the Bible. There's far more facts to hold onto in the truth
Uh huh. Right. Sorry but I'll wait for the facts to come out rather than blindly believe someone's truth.
How much will this information cost? Nothing.
Somehow the collective ignorance of mankind is too high a price to pay to summarily agree with your book.
"The big bang theory is only theory."
Ugggh. That's a big fat dumbass alert right thar.
"If the gnostics want some evidence of creation all they have to is read the first chapter of the Bible. There's far more facts to hold onto in the truth"
The failures are strong with you.
(Scientific) Theories don't work that way.
And what does this have to do with poor people? If we spent all the money in the world on taking care of the population, we'd probably crash in more ways than one, and we'd run out of money to take care of everyone too. Besides that, can you tell me what these scientists do in their spare time? Can you tell me what they do with their money? It IS possible to care about more than one thing at once. Believe it or not, scientists are people, and, while they do enjoy science, they don't livebreatheeatsleep it exclusively 24 hours a day.
I like the gnostics. When you take their belief system that yahweh isn't the supreme being - more of a spoilt godlet then the OT reads a lot better. BTW from wiki
Gnosticism (Greek: ???s?? gnosis, knowledge) refers to diverse, syncretistic religious movements in antiquity consisting of various belief systems generally united in the teaching that humans are divine souls trapped in a material world created by an imperfect god, the demiurge; this being is frequently identified with the Abrahamic god, and is contrasted with a superior entity.
Gnostics does not equal agnostics. And reading something in a book does not constiture evidence. In that case Lord of the Ring must be evidence too, and the Quran and the Torah. Not to mention Das Kapital.
"Human beings suffering for lack of essentials". Yes, lots of people lack food and clean water, and shelter and safety. Oh, you were refering to belief in an imaginary sky daddy? Yup, that's gonna make them fed and safe...
Theory does not work that way!
The babble was written by people that weren't smart enough to keep goat shit separated from their food.
I think the informations given to us from modern scientists are much more reliable and therefore worth the money.
Funny people you are, fundies. When you talk about something that doesn't affect you directly (say, the origin of the Universe, or life in third-world countries -- to think about it, to hell with them, right?), you proudly hold up the Bible and "expose" the scientists as lying con-men. When it's your life that's at stake, you are very quick to turn around and take all science has to offer. Except for the chosen few, who think they can pray cancer/AIDS/pick-your-favorite-terminal-disease away -- those really deserve the special Darwin Award.
Truth exists, but not in your book. It exists in science. We understand how the world works. Does your bible teach you to fly? Aerodynamics does, you would have regarded the frivolous drawings of Da Vinci a waste of time and the tinkerings of the Mongolfiers a cheese eating surrender monkey plot to waste our wood.
"If the gnostics want some evidence of creation all they have to is read the first chapter of the Bible."
No, you idiot, the bible is the CLAIM, not the EVIDENCE.
Gravity is also only a theory. Wanna defy that wishy washy wishful thinking by jumping off this cliff, Johnnie?
I find it very interesting that it's often "against people's religion" to cater to homosexual weddings, or even accept homosexuality as a normal variation, but it's never said to be "against people's religion" to pass a starving man in the street without giving him something. Jesus was very adamant on the latter issue; treat the poorest and sickest as you would treat Jesus. He doesn't say anything about homosexuality, does he?
The gnostics can also read the second chapter of the Bible, and find a decidedly different creation story...
Truth is what's wishy washy, silly; theories are chock-a-block full of facts.
If we had stuck to the creation story in the Bible (whichever one we prefer), it would have cost the lives of millions, perhaps billions, of people that have been and will be saved by the medical and technical advances that theories lead to. That is indeed something to be CON-CERN-ED about!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
