The Coelocanth (spelling) is an ancient fish...we know this because we carbon dated fossils from it that date back millions of years....oh wait...nevermind...we have live specimens in the ocean now...wow our carbon dating is so accurate!! There are SO many holes in the "fact" that the earth is millions of years old it's ridiculous...the Bible is THE Truth...Believe it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just because some species exists today, does not mean it did not exist millions of years ago. In this case, it means that the deep ocean environment hasn't changed significantly enough for the coelocanth to benefit from much adaptation.
There are SO many holes in the "fact" that the earth is millions of years old it's ridiculous...the Bible is THE Truth...Believe it. So when you talk about the Bible, then all of a sudden holes don't matter anymore?
Yeah, and we can probably find fossils that look like cockroaches 400 million years old. So what? If we find that Tutankhamen is 3,330 years old, does that mean the dating is wrong because there are are still Egyptians alive today? Use some common sense, for God's sake! Do you think God wants you to be a moron?
BTW, you can't "carbon date" fossils from millions of years ago. Carbon dating is only good back to about 60,000 years ago. If you can't get a simple thing like that right, why should anyone believe the rest of your nonsense?
You do realize that, just because there are still living specimins, that doesn't negate anything, right? They date ancient human remains, too, and we're still around. So, sorry, but you still lose.
This guy is really great! Not often that someone can display a total lack of knowledge of archeology, biology, chemistry, geology, and logic in the same post. Sir I salute you!
Some fish which, evidently has evolved very little over a long period of time, has been found in the ocean. Therefore, the Bible is completely accurate! Wow, the leaps of logic make my hamstrings ache.
Why do these idiot fundies think that the ultimate argument for discrediting evolution is the fact that monkeys still exist or things, for that matter, still exist?. It seems that they are fond of getting rid of whatever has been before.
Carbon dating doesn't work on that sort of timescale, dumbass. Radiometric dating of other elements does, however, as do things like index fossils and stratigraphy.
Fundie Logic:
New evidence challenges previously held scientific norms == Teh Babble is RIGHT!
Scientific logic:
New evidence challenges previously held scientific norms == new evidence requires modifications in theory or, in extreme cases, a new theory.
They love to think this is relevant. The fact is we, scientific discovery had discovered ancient fossils of the Coelocanth years before a living one was ever captured, so for years it appeared to be an extinct species. No fraudulent agenda, no scam or dishonesty, just the facts at hand from one period to the next. So? Fundies love to hype this up as some sort of failure in science, shows you how little they have in the way of valid arguments.
And the modern species has been examined and found to have slight differences from the ancient specimens. Some things don't change much over long periods, some do, being an ancient species there are likely several other fish that are decended from the Coelocanth while one group survived mostly unchanged.
So some species have survived more or less unchanged for millions of years.
Whoopee doo. We knew that already, and anyway WTF does it have to do with carbon dating?
Erm, the fossils are STILL just as old as they were dated to be, regradless of whether there is live specimens or not.
Does your great grandfather's bones become younger because you're alive, stupid?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
