1) Some animals have intelligence, too. Not all do: Cockroaches don't have anything that could really be called intelligence, but dogs do.

Everyone has a certain set of verifiable human instincts.
A healthy human instinct is to avoid being stupid or ignorant. You seem to have misplaced your instincts, MysteryAC.
Just because dogs don't have a doggy bible or go to doggy church, it doesn't necessarily mean they don't have a doggy Christ. I'm sure they have an oral tradition at the very least.

On the contrary, every time I look at the TV I realize that dumb people can not only survive but thrive.

1. We are not. You are looking at the end result and not the stages in between. Its not a mountain but a gradual slope.
2. Dumb is relative. A shark is dumb. But it is the ultimate survivor. Pure instinct that is capable of overcoming almost any opponent. And humans still get ambushed by crocodiles and a variety of other animals. And indeed MysteryAC seems to survive without much problem.
3. Er.. Instinct does not work that way! Intelligence does. Dolphins are not instinctive creatures. Neither are apes.
