@Fundies Make Me Sick
"The fact that you're even comparing them makes you a very disturbed person."
And just the notion of a fundie like this finding it necessary to use paedophilia as a supposedly relevant 'example' to compare a new believer having an education in comparative religions*, is extremely telling.
And right-wing fundies dare to contemplate the notion of even thinking that they have the right to accuse gay men of targeting underage children?!
...when the simple fact is this: they don't.
Right-wing fundies are obsessed about homosexuals, because (not taking into account the inherent hypocrisy of their supposed repugnance of such a lifestyle, when the likes of Ted Faggard prove they're all closet cases themselves) they're the most convenient soft target to project upon, nay, demonise. Just as a certain Austrian - who was a devout Christian and a right-winger - did, re. a certain section of the population. A certain resident bridge-dwelling, goat-molester who shall remain clueless, I'm looking at you. And you are part of a certain section of the population who was the target of so much demonisation. Therefore you are one to talk about discrimination & bigotry - and how such is used unjustifiably by those who have no right whatsoever to even think in such a way about others not exactly like them.
*- Comparative Religions was in the RE curriculum, part of Humanities, which was taught at the schools I went to. It's the main reason I know about the myriad belief systems of the world; especially how (particularly re. the thousands of denominations of Christianity, and the conflicts between such, about doctrines, eschatologies etc) each one thinks they have the monopoly on 'Truth'; 'theirs' is right, and everyone else's is wrong.
This, coupled with my careful, cover-to-cover (and not cherry-picking, back-n-forth 'interpretation; you don't read other forms of literature like that, so why should the Bible be any different, seeing as it's just another type of fiction) reading of the Bible in my teens, made me come to the conclusion that the Judeo-Christian 'God' doesn't exist (PROTIP: 'Elohim'/'Adonai', 'Allah'**, 'Jehovah'/'Yahweh'/'YHWH' etc are all one & the same. Why do you think they're referred to as the Abrahamic religions by professors, academics, scholars etc who know more about your beliefs than you fundies?!), thus their belief systems, and thus 'Truth' can't all be right, therefore they're all wrong.
Reality, and facts based on empirical evidence, is impossible to contradict. Mathematics, the basis of Science: 2+2=4. Can 'Faith' & religious 'Truth' prove that wrong? Example: Pi = 3.14159... according to mathematics. Pi = Exactly 3, according to the Bible, the so-called 'Truth'. Which one is lies? If you think the latter is correct, prove it by building a wheel on the basis of the 'True' Word of God's own mathematical model. If you can, then you've proven yourself superior to 'God'. If you can't...!
Ergo, Atheism (acknowledgement of Reality & scientific fact) = right. Religious 'belief' (pointless, nay, potentially dangerous 'Faith') = wrong. QED.
Moral: So someone learning about other beliefs may destroy their own 'faith', even resulting in them recanting their 'belief' and becoming an Atheist? It did a certain long-time Christian no harm whatsoever. It wouldn't kill you - and every other fundie out there - to do the same. All that's destroyed is your unjustifiable & superstitious 'beliefs'.
**- The Church of Malta is one of the earliest established Christian churches still in existence today (next to the Coptic Church in Egypt). In their worship, they refer to 'God' as Allah. But then, the lingua franca of the middle east during Biblical times was Aramaic. In that language, 'God' is 'Elah' (as it is 'Elohim' in Judaism). Elah. Allah. Hmmmm, interesting...!
'Muslims =/= Christians/Jews' as so many of you lot claim. Judeo-Christianity/Judaism: Abraham. Gabriel. Islam: Ibrahim. Jibra'il. Like I say (as do aforementioned professors/academics/scholars of Theology who know more about your beliefs than you fundies do): Abrahamic religions. Game, Set, and annihilated argument to me.
