As horrible as Ebola is, we are talking about an epidemic that has caused “only” a few thousand deaths. We are so much used to not having any such illness anymore that this is a terrible catastrophe, when not even a century ago, the Spanish Flu killed between 50 and 100 million people!

A child's immune system isn't FULLY developed until the age of 4. If children under 4 had no immune systems, all children would die of common diseases. That's why they need shots, to help their immune system develop and prevent these terrible diseases like polio.
