Err... Father, you do realize that certain similar conspiracy theorists say that Freemasonry and Catholicism are related (which is BS, but still...), right? This whole theory is eventually going to fall in on you.
As some have pointed out, Masonic membership has shrunk in recent years due to the aging of its members and few new initiates (Masons are not allowed to openly recruit).
Many of the myths about Freemasonry can be blamed on Leo Taxil, a 19th century Frenchman who published tracts claiming that Masons worship and make sacrifices to the demon Baphomet.
