Sadly, I doubt this person will ever see this as the logical fallacy it is. This is a circular argument: 1)I believe the Bible is the Word of God. 2)It's the Word of God because it says so. 3)Therefore, I'm right! <Long, lonely sigh for humanity.>

I do believe that Poseidon punished Odysseus and made him sail around the Mediterranean Sea and since it's in the Iliad and the Odyssey then it must be true.

The bible also speaks of a place where the dead "sleep" forever without feelings of any kind (No, not just the people who would go to hell, all people will go there). How does that relate to the afterlife of your choice?

Most of my family is a bunch of self deluded fundies. All of them still try and use that circular logic to try and convert me. It’s sad to see the ignorant try so hard in vein. On the bright side, I actually got my grandma to read Richard Dawkins “The God Delusion”, Not that I really think it will help.
