"You've got to be kidding me with that excerpt from Butler Clergy. If that is for real, which I'll assume it is, then those "clergy" are just a bunch of liberals that have tried to pick and choose the parts of the Bible they want to believe, if any. To try to say that Christians hold that viewpoint is ridiculous."
You're five years too late, Bryan. Kitzmiller vs. Dover makes the teaching of 'I.D.' (and thus Creationism) illegal & unconstitutional in US schools.
"those "clergy" are just a bunch of liberals that have tried to pick and choose the parts of the Bible they want to believe, if any"
Kitzmiller vs. Dover was presided over by Judge John E. Jones III. A Conservative Christian. Jones was personally appointed to the Federal bench by president George Dumbya Bush. A Conservative Christian who believes in Creationism. Who voted in Dumbya - twice? You & your ilk, Bryan. Creationists.
So there you have it; Unpalatable, I know, but the simple fact is, 'liberals' had nothing to do with what you're bleating on about. It was you, the Religious Right, who ultimately destroyed the educational agenda of the Religious Right. And all down to you 'picking and choosing the parts of the Bible you want to believe' - in complete denial of the evidence, especially that which resulted in Judge Jones in 2005 having no other choice but to find for the plaintiffs, thus the precedent set. Even he, a Conservative Christian like you, when showed the 'evidence' of Creationists like Michael Behe during Kitzmiller vs. Dover, saw that viewpoint to be ridiculous.
The moral of this story: Irony. It can be such a bitch, eh?
Here endeth the lesson.
