I believe the Bible overwhelmingly supports a swift death penalty for murder, rape, homosexuality, adultery, kidnapping, and yes, even unrepentant cursing of your parents. [...] If you work through the logical consequences, it is brilliant wisdom that would have saved countless lives

Killing for the "crimes" of homosexuality, adultery, and cursing of parents might each individually result in a death toll greater than we currently tolerate. Together, we'd probably lose more than half the population.
Woah. Rewind. Say again. Think. There you go.
Of course, the biggest problem with this method is that back in the Biblical days of Stone-The-Adultress, they didn't stop to consider a person's innocence. They just said, "Adultress! Stone her!" And everyone went "Yay, a stoning! Where's my braining rock?"
How is being beaten to death with rocks by the members of your community a quick death? SToning isn't like David (supposedly) killing Goliath with a single rock, these people were pummeled to death with one pound rocks. That's kind of like being executed in an electric chair that is actually just a bug zapper.
Zero tolerance and death to all breakers of the law=brilliant? On what planet is this?

I don't believe the Bible says anything about the speed with which the death penalty should be enforced, nor can I remember any referrence to kidnapping, but he's right about the rest of it. That is what the Bible says.

No, when I work through it I find cruel and unjust draconian asshattery that has cost countless lives.
God gave the reason why women should not have authority in the church, because they are easier to deceive (see 1 Timothy 2:14).
Really? Because the way I thought that went down was that Eve actually had to be convinced by the serpent to eat the apple, but Adam took no convincing whatsoever, he just took what he was given. Which one was more easily "deceived?"
It's not as if I needed more proof that the Bible is completely irrelevant in this day and age, being that it is filled with loads more of this type of horseshit. People like Fred Williams, who consider this pile of offal to be the inerrant Word of God(TM), should be legislated from running for, or holding, any kind of public office, where they would be in a position to draft legislation.
Countless lives?, killing virtually EVERYBODY(if we applied the curse of parents)?, besides, did Jesus condemned, what a coincidence, the adultress or Mary Magdalaine?, moreover, what did he say about that of children, WHO SHOULD NOT PAY FOR THEIR PARENTS SINS?

So do Osama bin Laden and the Taliban. Maybe Fred's living in the wrong country.
I love guys like this. He's right - the Bible is big on death penalties.
The Bible would go out of style a lot faster if people realized that. For every time they debate putting up the Ten Commandments in schools, I want to see them debate capital punishment for cursing your parents.
It'd be laughed out of the Senate and people would finally realize - once and for all - that the Bible is NOT relevant to today. And then life would be good. :)

No. The Bible advocates slow and painful death for murder, rape of a married woman or betrothed virgin, homosexuality, adultery, and disobeying orders given by your parents. I don't recall what it says about kidnapping. Rape of an unbetrothed virgin is not punished; the rapist is rewarded by being allowed to marry his victim, and must only pay a fee to her father. If a married woman or betrothed virgin is raped in the city and she doesn't (or can't) scream, then the victim is killed along with the rapist.

I must certainly agree here. Following the principles described in the Bible would likely wipe out humans very quickly, and thus save the lives of LIONS like me.

god wants to see everyone kill at least one of their immediate family members, for any fabricated reason, or just because. It all started with Abraham....
Killers are god's blessed little angels.
Confused?
