An attempt to whip up anti-Islamic sentiment by the leader of the English Defence League has spectacularly backfired on Twitter on Monday.
On Sunday night, EDL leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, also known as Tommy Robinson, tweeted a complaint about a picture of a "mosque" on the Twitter front page (it was actually the Taj Mahal), highlighting the image as another example of #creepingsharia.
However, rather than stoke far-right feeling, the Luton-based activist unintentionally started a comedy twitter trend.
Amid traffic about the start of Anders Breivik’s trial in Oslo, the Twitterati hijacked the tag, with #creepingsharia being blamed for everything from “algebra on the curriculum” to “no ham left in the fridge”.

That is all.
Wow, you'd have to be an IDIOT to think that 1) the Taj Mahal is a mosque, and 2) that it's located in Britain.
Oh my God, do you know what this means? It means that Americans aren't the only people incapable of geography! *Throws party*
This is what happens when you build a movement on ignorance and dogma. It's this kind of thing that gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, we actually have a chance of overcoming fundamentalism despite its enormous numbers.

You couldn't recognize one of the most iconic buildings on the planet?
Wow.

This is hilarious.
Ah, the FAIL of the ignorant. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

And the Taj Mahal killed Princess Diana. [/"Daily Fail"] X3
B3ta.com, your moment to shine has come. Start bringing out the Woo and Yay, all you shoopmeisters!
Nice! We need to get our tourist postcards and make mocking tributes to this.
Say, Mount Rushmore as a sign of creeping Federalism?
How about the (now crumbled) Old Man of the Mountain state quarters as a sign of Gaia worship in the government?
I know! A postcard of the Pyramids of Giza being accused of creeping necrophilia!!
Incidentally, do you think IRC users are going to set up #creepingsharia as channels for further EDL mockery?
Because I sure as heck would!
picture of a "mosque" ... it was actually the Taj Mahal

Uhh, back up a minute. The Taj Mahal *is* a mosque. Its primary function may be that of a mausoleum, but it is a functioning mosque that is used as such.
However, using it as an example of "#creepingsharia" is like using Leonardo's Mona Lisa as an example of "#creepingfeminism".
This Tommy Robinson guy is an attention-seeking asshat, and the EDL is made up of retarded, lower/lower-middle class, mostly unemployed soccer fans who grew up on an us-vs-them mentality, and when the football season is out, these wankers have no idea where to take their beers and jeers. A fucking waste, the lot of them.
@ Osiris
From the Wikipedia article about the Taj Mahal:
The Taj Mahal ( /'t??d?/ or /'t??? m?'h??l/;[1] Hindi: ??? ???, from Persian/Urdu: ??? ??? "crown of palaces", pronounced ['t?a?d? m?'??l]; also "the Taj"[2]) is a white Marble mausoleum located in Agra, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage."[3]
Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles.[4][5]
Most of the stuff here makes me wonder whether I should laugh, cry, or be terrified.
The verdict is clear: Laugh your ass off.

The building in the picture is actually just the mausoleum with the minarets. Although a mosque is part of the Taj Mahal complex, it's behind the photographer and not visible.
Well, technically speaking, there is a mosque in Cordoba(turned into a cathedral)and also la Giralda in Spain is an old minaret. Please, don't tell him, his head may explode.
Confused?
